There's a bunch of fighters who had perfect or near perfect records without fighting (many) notable guys, and without becoming household names. These guys spring to mind. Chris John 48-3-1 - Holds win over JMM Sven Ottke 34-0 - Holds wins over Mundine, Glen Johnson Harry Simon 31-0 - Holds win over Winky Wright Edwin Valero 27-0 - Beat DeMarco just before his murder suicide
Chris John was a very capable and savvy technician who benefitted from being insulated in Indonesia. Capable fighter and a deserving world champion but his record is fairly flattering. Ottke really isn't much to scoff at imo. Most of his best wins are controversial and when they aren't controversial then they're usually dull. Benefitted massively off of German promotion and protection. Harry Simon was pretty good but has a lot of question marks. Winky Wright was still more of a mover and hadn't fully settled into his style yet but it's a very solid win. Valero I think is overrated but he was a big puncher and fairly offensively diverse. A planned fight with Pacquiao would have ended badly for him though.
