The thread should be 'how good would Amir Khan be if he was Kid Gavilan'? Wow, he would be amazing then, would've decimated Maidana easy.

Note: Laz and Darni, Kid Gavilan is a fighter from before 2008. It was a joke you see.

    Yep, agree.

Some fighters dont have a sense of, that your upperbody does not have to be in-sync with the lower body, that they can be two different entities, which when utilized, makes a fighter more relaxed, able to utilize good upperbodymovement etc. When a fighter thinks his upperbody has to simultaneously be doing the same thing his lower body is doing, he becomes more rigid in his movement imo.

    Khan with Shoulder Roll....ffs..

The kid would get ****ing muller'd. Khan cannot even now afford to fight with hands away from face. He has boxing version of adhd. He can't stand still unless the guys right there with him and then he covers eyes and counts how many punches hit his gloves and when he opens eyes he runs around ring again.

What has age got to do with it??? He's either a top-level fighter or he ain't, and he's open to criticism. History tells us that 24 isn't baby-faced phenom material. He can be talked about without taking his age into account.

  7. man khans fast as hell accurate and pretty powerful , but he has NO defence at all , he runs around the ring wasting energy , he couldnt use a shoulder roll its way to skillfull for a straight up and down forward backwards style fighter like khan

Not everyone is Maidana and will go head hunting for Khan a style which Khan does not enjoy, most fights will be with normal boxers, chess matches, and were Khan lacks in some areas he makes up in speed the greatest asset in boxing for me, speed can cancel skill and timing because it does not respects them, it cuts though them, it upsets their natural state. If Roach can help Khan master and control his handspeed like Manny then the sky is the limit.

Khan just needs to keep refining what he is good at and keep improving his timing, because the speed is there.

There were mistakes in the Maidana fight which will give Khan and Roach things to work on, but there were also some nice slips from Khan with his head at times. We got to give credit to Maidana the guy just kept coming and cut Khan off well at times and wanted to knock Khan's head off.

Thing with speed though, IMO, is you have to know how to use it, when to use it.

What quick fighters sometimes do imo, is become complacent because of their speed, they dont always pay for their mistakes due to their speed, therefore they can sometimes choose the wrong times when to mount their attacks, and because they have gotten away with stuff like that in the past, they keep doing it, only when your in with a good fighter, who is able to use your offense against you, make you pay for potential mistakes, you have to know how to utilize your speed intelligently, cause that timing and skill will! become a big factor if you dont.

Khan's biggest weakness is not his chin imo, its his naivety.

Amir Khan does not have a very high Boxing IQ imo, what he does, he does well, but he does it intuitively, through years of amateur experience imo. Khan has got more saavy since working with Roach, but I still think he can be walked into shots, that you can set traps for him.

Khan got knocked out against Prescott cause he made a fundamental mistake, a mistake that a fighter at his level, should not be making imo.

I faith that he's learning bit by bit, and I respect how he came back from adversity, that was commendable, but I think there is a more to it regarding the speed element, from my perspective anyway.:thumbsup

Bradley would set traps and lead Khan onto his snappy right. Because of this, he will do more damage than Maidana IMO.
