he stepped up to lhw with ease and went straight to the top,how far do you think he could make it in cw?
has he got the tools to top cw or do you think he will beat a top 5 or lose to the first cw he comes up against?etc etc

what do you think and why??????????

Cruiserweight is another 25 pound jump from Lightheavyweight. That is equivalent to more than a 3 weightclass difference.

Calzaghe gets hurt badly by any top 20 Cruiserweight, IMO.

Calzaghe would be dire at cruiser. His punch power would not deter anyone far naturally bigger from ploughing through him. The only reason Jones succeeded at heavy was that his power made Ruiz reluctant to come in. Calzaghe would not have that deterrent.

He would be mince at cruiser. Pretty much exactly what Pacfan said, he would get walked down and beaten up. :good

The only reason Jones succeeded at heavyweight was because his power made Ruiz reluctant to come inside. No cruiserweight would even blink if Calzaghe caught them flush on the chin with a ten-punch combination. He wouldn't have the power to deter a cruiser and would be steamrollered to defeat.

if Dawson vs Calzaghe does happen and Joe wins with ease I can see him trying to move up to cruiser, especially if adamek beats Cunningham

I think people overrate size sometimes. A while ago, when someone asked whether PBF could beat Jeff Lacy and i said he could, most laughed at the statement. I think Calzaghe has the tools to possibily do some great things at CW. He's just so much more talented, faster, slicker, and adapts better than anyone else at CW. His size would be his biggest obstacle as i think he topped out at LHW given him frame, but i still think a good little man beats an average big man in many occassions.
