    more than likely.

benn beat the ****ing **** out of him in the second, even had gerald holding on to get his senses back.

probably my favourite round of boxing actually, incredible comeback.

Absolutely. If the referee had stopped it it would have been seen as a very poor stoppage. The only reason people keep bringing this **** up is because of what the fight did to McClellan and you have to eliminate that from your thinking. He was a boxing referee not a ****ing fortune teller.

McClellan in the fight before this one said he had some headaches throughout training camp and during the fight.

The seeds for the trauma were already planted...The Benn fight just sped the process up. Regardless of who McClellan faced afterwards, it was still gonna happen.

anyone who thinks the fight should have been stopped in the first round is talking out of their arsehole!!!
benn weathered the early storm, got stuck in and dug down deep to win the fight. i was in the crowd that night, spectacular contest but i am so sorry for what happened to gerald, he was a tough guy.
benn was an awesome boxer but i am a bit biased as he was my 3rd favourite of all time!!!!!

Pretty hard to argue with that video :yep

I don't know where all this bull**** about the referee that night came from, he really wasn't that bad. Certainly not as bad as Cortez in the Hatton/Mayweather fight, but just like Cortez he didn't have any effect on the outcome whatsoever. Time this **** was put to bed, it was 13 years ago for ****s sake :rofl

    1. The referee held McClellan off for something like 1.5-2 seconds, it really didn't make a difference. Interestingly the referee didn't ask Benn to raise his gloves and walk to him like most refs do after a knock-down, how long would that have took? I stand by my original post in that the referee had no outcome on the result of this fight. He wasn't a good referee obviously, but he wasn't THAT bad.

    2. Benn did have 20 seconds, and he was on his feet at around 7-8 seconds and I put it on the stopwatch and from the moment he went out of the ring to the time he was back in the ring was 11.1 seconds. Should he have been stopped? **** NO.

I think you are overracting. Take a look at the 1st round again.

The ref delayed the action a few seconds at most. I don't think it was anything blatant. And i don't think the ref had any right to stop the fight after the first KD. Benn went through the ropes but he was clearly not that hurt as he got back up and in the ring in seconds.

It was not blatant, but it was not pretty either. Benn was on very wobbly feet and those precious seconds could have meant Benn's demise or not. The commentators complained about it and it is obvious that G-Man did not understand why the ref was pushing him away with two hands and it looked to me, with attitude. I guess we will never know.

Florida Boy and C Money have been slightly owned, and shock horror, they haven't shown there faces again.
