He was so small yet hit as hard as a middleweight his only loss was to Barrera people said he never really trained for that fight.

How good could he have been if he really put in the effort?

His unorthodox style mixed with athleticism, speed and reflexes are what made him great.

Had he tried to change any of this, he might not have succeeded at all.

By the time the MAB fight came along, it was too late to learn new tricks.

What I mean is he never really had the need to brush up on his boxing skills because of his power so when he needed it a little bit for the MAB fight he was lost.

Also take into account, that he was basically finished at 26.

So many questions about what may have been

exactly how he turned out, he was dedicated until the last few years of his career. he never really beat anyone elite nor even fight any true elite fighters.

MAB was very good but short of elite status. some on here throw around elite talent like its the norm. very very few truly elite fighters come along each era.

his best win was a back and forth KD fest with, wtf was his name ???

kevin Kelley who was pretty good

Talent wise; one of the best ever; I agree with this.

Nazeem actually hit so hard his hands could not take the power. This is why he retired. Too many broken hands. He got fed up.

A large part of his training for MAB involved watching and rewatching Junior Jones (another southpaw) koing Barerra, this basically confirmed to Hamed that he too would do a job on MAB.

Hamed would have been taken apart by the first really good boxer he faced regardless of if he trained or not. Punching power is great but it can only go so far in covering up for technical flaws.

came unstuck with the first great he fought, and didn't have the character to try again.

the most he can claim is perhaps hof status in the future.

He was not one of the most talented ever.

True. Naz's awkward style was Tailor made for sharp shooter/counter punchers like Kelly and Mab. They tagged him hard a lot. Naz is lucky he didn't fight Marquez as he would have been countered the **** out of.

Too bad he lost the love for the sport. One of my favorite fighters

    MAB faced 25 title holders

He should be a first ballot HOFer
