OK win, considering that Marg was sorry as champion.

I understand what he was doing to an extent, but it's kind of a bad business move to not rematch him. Marg was the longest reigning welter champ at the time, and even though it was clear for williams he took a beating in that second half.. It was pretty certain marg would stay in the picture for the future..

I agree and disagree, it was a bigger money fight after that.. but it had nothing to do with Williams going 1-1 with Quintana. It was called for because Margarito destroyed Cotto and Cintron... Marg was guaranteed big money whoever he fought, Williams didn't have that same option..

****, i'd still like to see it now, and I would have liked to see it after Marg beat Cotto.. But i can really understand why williams got shutout the second time with the way he acted after the fight...

That clears nothing up.. I know you watched the fight and I'm sure you watched the post presser... They wanted the rematch first and foremost...

You know what Williams reaction was, so don't speak about some after the fact stuff..

Williams clearly stated he wouldn't give Margarito a rematch!!! Yes or No??:deal:deal

Now why would Top Rank give Williams another shot with Cotto?? This is a guy who was just given the BIGGEST opportunity of his career by them only to shut down the rematch with that Champion who brought him into the picture.. You don't bite the hand that feeds you.. it's only natural they wouldn't give him a multi-million dollar payday against Cotto..

If Margo was loaded in that fight, Williams probably would have shown a lot more damage late in the fight. He had a cut but not much swelling or other damage. Williams was eating shots and it definitely would have been worse with loaded gloves. Freddie Roach said that he didn't think Margarito used them against Williams but did against Cintron and Cotto.

Paul Williams has gone from being one of the most overrated fighters in the game to one of the most underrated. Shame he never learned to tuck his chin in and fight tall.

Hopefully he has worked on some type of defense, and also proper non slapping punching technique, and also a properly thrown jab that is effective.

You are actually a little misguided on what happened. Margarito asked for a rematch immediately after the fight. Paul personally said he didn't care who he was fighting. When the talking commenced, a person from the press asked the question about Cotto, and Arum answered as he did.

He then started bad-mouthing the referees, etc. and said that he would be preoesting the results of the fight to get them vacated, and force Williams to have to fight again to get the title. How would you react to that? Goosen said what anyone here would say: "**** off"

The Williams camp clearly wasn't afraid to fight Margs, as everyone knows what happened in sparring between the two. But it was just a matter of dealing with Arum. every fighter in the game has problems dealing with Arum and his fighters.

And later on, after the CQ fights, it was Paul himself who kept puching for the rematch, since they both had belts. And if you recall, it was Arum who wrote the letter to Goosen telling him to stop contacting him about PW-MargoII.

I don't think either fighter or their respective camps were scared of a rematch. It was all the fault of grandstanding by their promoters, especially Arum.

I watched the fight I remember what Williams said after the fight.. he wanted bigger fights, They knew what they were gonna try and do if they won... I cant find it though.. I did find the presser

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuJh4DfQeCk[/ame] from about 230.. Arum was open for discussions, Goosen says he wants Cotto, Arum basically says no but you can get Cintron.. It was in goosens court to make it or not, they wanted "bigger things"

I do think the promoters got in the way for the rematch... But damn as a champ and the fighter Williams was I figured he would have said hell yea when asked about an immediate rematch..

BULL**** Show me PROOF that Tony Margarito ever loaded or tried to load his gloves. There isnt one shred of proof anywhere. The CSAC "MISPLACED" the proof they always claimed to have ROFL Yeah sure like they would really lose the only proof they claimed to have to ruin a mans career The people that should have been banned were Nazim Richardson & the whole friggin CSAC:fire:fire:fire
