He was a brave warrior as FIN said but his shortcomings were exposed against Mayweather. That being said he was great to watch and a tragic loss for boxing. I've always felt that despite his post jail success, that time put the brakes on his progress. He was never quite the same at lightweight as he might have been IMO.He was always better against slugggers and did well when up against like minded fighters who didn't capitalise on his recklessness. I'd say Freitas is the best fight to watch if you want to think of him at his best.
he was one of my favorites ever. after that castillo fight it was a shame what happened to him. that fight ruined them both an diego became a wreck.great fight but sad to watch for me
One of the great warriors, and was considered great until Floyd kicked the **** out of him, now he's "OK" because it would credit Floyd to call him great.
Not great at all. He was a good fighter who was very excitin to watch. But he wasn't great. His resume ain't all that. Chico gets overrated due to his win against Castillo.
No he wasnt considered "great" until floyd beat him. He was always good. Nobody takes anything away from floyd destroying him. Great win
-Underdog against Garcia, scored a come from behind KO to take his title and his 0 -Same against Freitas -Comes from behind and stops Castillo in an epic war to take the lineal 135 lb title - Loses 2 out of 3 to rival and possible HOF'er Casamayor Good wins over fighters Angel Manfredy, John Brown, and Derrick Gainer He had a fantastic career, was a very good fighter but was overshadowed by the greater tacticians Casamayor and Mayweather. He doesn't get enough credit for facing every one of the good fighters at 130 and 135. The only fighter out of the big 5 to do so (Castillo, Freitas, Casamayor, Mayweather)
