How great was Gene Tunney really?

    Although I’m not invested enough to be as harsh as you on this particular subject, I found myself nodding along until the very end gave me a moment of pause - I agree, & it’s bare for all to see, that Dempsey carefully managed his reign. I do consider him nonetheless one of the greats of the division, though. Wondering where you place him…

    Tunney tends to get very little credit for going 3-1-1 against Greb, for a few reasons that I’m aware of:
    1. By most accounts, Greb got the wrong end on at least a couple of the decisions.
    2. By their later battles, Greb was clearly past his peak.
    3. Tunney was the naturally bigger man.

    Still, Tunney should at least get some credit for winning a series over some people’s GOAT.
