How great were the 90s really in Heavyweight boxing? Answer would be "Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, Tyson....nuff said". But the bottom line is an old George Foreman was hanging in there and beating heavyweights. He beat Michael Moorer, got robbed against a prime Shannon Briggs, beat Lou Savarese, Pierre Coetzer, Alex Stewart, Axel Schulz....
And to be honest, Riddick Bowe ducked Lennox Lewis and got a gift decision against Tony Tubbs, Tyson was only a shadow of himself in the 90s basically. And Holyfield was a blown up cruiserweight who struggled in LOTS OF HIS FIGHTS: against Bowe, Bert Cooper, Michael Moorer for example.
So-how great were the 90s really? I think the heavyweight contenders from 2000-2010 would do pretty good in the 90s. They might not beat Lennox Lewis, but they might have a damn good chance against all the others.

No Frank Bruno would not beat either Klitschko. Sorry, just not happening. I'm not even a Klitschko fan but Bruno couldnt take either.

Old ass Grant gave a shitload of troubles to Adamek. Adamek also went 12 rounds with obese bum McBride. Vitali got half of his face torn off by old Lewis.

Fringe contenders from the 90s would be in today's top 10.

How do you think some of the 90's heavyweights would do against Tony Thompson, Mormeck, old Rahman, Adamek, Huck, old Briggs? Foreman smokes them all.

Foreman didn't beat up a single HW in his comeback. Who did he 'beat up'?

    * He got lucky landing a single punch vs. former LHW bum Michael Moorer. Foreman was getting clowned and beaten up by Moorer for 10 rounds before getting lucky.
    * Then Foreman got embarassed by German nobody bum Axel Shultz in a 12 rounder that everyone who had their glasses on thought Shultz should have won. But Don King made sure the judges gave it to Big George.
    * Then the IBF ruled Foreman has to fight Shultz again because the fight was a robbery.
    * Foreman ducked the rematch and fought Briggs for the ridiculous WBU belt and again he gets embarrassed and loses a SD.

Foreman faced C level contenders during his comeback, he looked utterly terrible and using a combination of luck and criminals robberies made a few millions. Do not misinterpret this as 'weakness' of the 90s or superiority of a shot, fat Foreman. It is neither. Just a freak accident.

Going twelve rounds with a prime Evander Holyfield was a freak accident?

I do agree that he avoided some of the best fighters around (barring Holyfield) but he actually improved somewhat from his 70's self. He was much more composed, poised, calm and henceforth a more accurate puncher and a far less wasteful one.

Moorer was the only real top rated HW that Foreman beat. Although what Foreman did was no doubt impressive (historic in fact), it wasn't as if he was beating the top HWs around. The only contender of note he beat on the road to the Holyfield title shot was Adilson Rodriguez, who had gotten starched by a single overhand right from Holyfield.

Alex Stewart's own manager publicly expressed doubt about his ability to take a punch and his psyche leading into the Foreman bout. He had gotten taken out in 1 by Tyson, lost a brutal fight with Moorer in 4, and was no longer considered a viable contender.

Pierre Coetzer was a fringe contender coming off stoppage defeats to Bruno and Bowe, when he took a bad beating.

With the exception of Moorer, Foreman beat journeymen and fringe contenders.

isnt it strange for you to say Schulz got robbed against Foreman but at the same time you say "Foreman got embarrassed by Briggs"? If anybody got embarrassed in that fight, it was Shannon Briggs cause there is no way in the world Briggs really won that fight.
