How hard did Bob Satterfield hit in a P4P sense ?

Possibly one of Pollack's books but does it surprise ? A fighter claiming he was hit hardest by an opponent he defeated ?

Satterfield was a wildman outside the ring, which is why he often underpeformed, but when it came to punching Satterfield could hit as hard as anybody.

Here is a piece from 1955 with Archie McBride after being defeated by Patterson. He comments on Satterfield's punching power in comparison to Patterson's.

A right-left combination by Patterson decked McBride early in the seventh. He just did beat the count at nine. There was an egg-sized lump on the side of his head. Then came the final flurry, ending, the right that gave Patterson his 23d victory in 24 pro starts, his 10th straight and fifth knockout in a row. He was a 1-to-4 favorite.

In his dressing Room, McBride said Patterson "Will be a champion." He rated Floyd much faster than Nino Valdes, although he said he didn't hit as hard as Bob Satterfield. As for Hurricane Jackson, McBride said "Patterson would outlast him, probably knock him out."

Here is a piece from 1959 with Cleveland Williams commenting on Satterfield's power in comparison to Liston's after being defeated by Liston.

"He treated me rudely in the first round," said Liston, who weighed 212.5 to Williams' 210.5 pounds. Liston now has won 24 of 25 fights and is ranked fourth among the heavyweights.

Williams, a year younger than Liston at 24, has been knocked out only once by Bob Satterfield. He said he believes Satterfield hits harder than Liston, which is like comparing the kick of one mule with another.

He was only 176 pounds when he flattened Cleveland Williams. Would have liked to seen him fight Marciano. It would have been a slugfest that Satterfield would ultimately lose, but he could have sat Marciano on the canvas before the inevitable.
