I agree with everything except the first sentence.
Floyd was famous for saying after the Emmanuel Burton fight 'I don't ever want to fight that man again'.
Unfortunately, he bumped into Jose Luis Castillo. He must have surely said by the end of the 2 fights with him 'I don't ever want a fight like that again'. Since then, he had to create a different persona to create reasons to avoid fighters, whilst also turning to 750ml out of desperation.

You make a good point. I was wondering who the second guy was, since I usually place RJJ and Hopkins in the generation before May and Pac. But if you bracket Floyd's career from '96-16 then RJJ did shine in that time and has a similar level of accomplishment, even though he stopped being good around 2004 and just hung around tarnishing his legacy.

Not really. It's called pluralism. You basically just accept that there is one force being worshiped in a number of different but mutually respectable fashions. The major religions like Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Mahayana Buddhism, and Bhakti Hinduism are all pretty similar actually.

It's like the blind men who encounter an elephant and are trying to describe it. One touched it's side and thinks it's a wall, another grabbed the tail and thinks it's a rope. One brushed against it's leg and thinks it's a pillar, another touched the trunk and thinks it's a tree branch. One touched the ear and thinks it's a fan, and the last missed the thing entirely and thinks it isn't really there. They are basically all describing the same thing from different points of view, with limited information. All of them contain a piece of the truth but none of them have the complete share.

Also, not all religions make claims to mutual exclusivity. For instance, Islam respects the beliefs of Christians and Jews but considers itself the updated platinum package. Another example would be the way some Hindus accept Jesus and Buddha as avatars of their deities.

Business-wise Floyd is the best, he can sell well with his fights with his underfeated record.

But the casuals felt shortchanged, and yet they still buy his fights.

TBE in making money = yes.

    TBE in boxing ==== NO.

Mayweather should have fought Brook, Thurman, Margarito, DLH (young), Mosley (young), Pacquiao, (young) etc.

People say well there were no fights out there for Mayweather. Sure there were. For all we know Kell Brook is some monster just waiting to destroy Mayweather. But you see a fight against a young, powerful and fast Welterweight isn't an option for Floyd Mayweather.

Why? Well that's a fairly simple question. He might lose. Yes, he could lose to a guy like Kell Brook. And Floyd decided long ago in 2002 that he wasn't going to take on a young and hungry fighter ever again.

Let's stop talking about would have. Why did Floyd not fight so many top guys when they were on top?

WTF happened to Brook, Williams, Thurman and Margarito fights?

Reality, ok. None of the guys you named were mandatories, Pac got chin checked twice, kod by a body shot and outboxed and bloodied. He even got knocked down by a jab. There's your would have.

None of those guys help PBF's resume that much
Brook unknown has only one win over anyone of note in Porter
Margo disgraced cheat and not good
Thurman Best win is Guerrero who PBF beat years before
Williams fight between these two could have never happened. After Williams beat margo he lost in his next fight against Quintana rematched him beat him and moved up in weight

None of these guys are legacy fights and don't do as much for him as Cotto, Canelo, Pac, Mosley, JMM, Oscar or Hatton did for him. Decent fights but not among his best at 147 and above.

Thurman was mandatory for 2 years. He wouldn't even fight Keith Thurman FFS. Imagine him getting into the ring with Margarito, Williams or Brook.

Floyd stopped taking on young and hungry fighters.

Pacquiao is the 2nd greatest fighter in the past 35 years.
