How hard does your gym push you in terms of conditioning?

    Just wondering what the norm is for intensity during conditioning workouts & circuit training in your gyms .

    How intense is your conditioning in the gym?

    iv not voted cos i havnt been for a long time but when i first went i thought it was conditioning heavy, 15-20 mins at the start non stop conditioning then onto skills, however once i started training on my own and got very fit , i realised that was nothing, and after that 15-20 mins when everyone else was dying i felt nice and warmed up ready for the skills.

    But i was training pretty seriously at the time

    We do about 45 minutes of solid conditioning before the first workout of the week and after the second workout of the week that leave you wanting to drop. We also do some sprint work some days too. Most of my conditioning is done in my own time though.

    to be honest when i go to the boxing gym i want it to focus on skills and the actual boxing as i was training every day for conditioning and took it seriously

    The guys at the gym only tell you what exercises to do. Intensity comes down to you.

    My gym has us do about 20-30 minutes of really hard conditioning. Then it's onto bag-drills, mitts, drills, etc. At the start though (after breaks due to school) I always feel unprepared and tire out so quickly that my punching form (which I take pride in) starts to fall apart on the bag for that session; I guess that's just what happens when you start again though.

    Also, do you guys let soreness recover properly after you start training again before going for a second workout?

    Really? Usually when I get into the rhythm of things, I work like hell during the workouts as always but feel fine afterwards, with only occasional soreness. But after the first workout of the first week back in training after being out of shape, I'm trying not to have consecutive days overstress my very sore core & lats. Are you saying I should ignore this completely and work through it?

    We do some light conditioning for about 20 minutes at the start, and we occassionally do 'peachy' sessions, which are much more intense sesions which include plenty of hard shadowboxing, pushups, various core exercises and hundreds of squats. I find it to be more of a muscular endurance thing though.

    I prefer it when the focus is mostly on technique. I think doing too much conditioning is a waste of precious technique time. It is much easier to condition yourself than what it is to teach yourself technique.

    the gym I go to is like a giant shed. It's also pretty much a work out on your own unless you're working with an actual trainer there so cardio isn't really pushed unless you're running up and down the stairs they have to the second deck with the double ends or you're pulling a tire in the street out front. Or jumping rope. So it's pretty much on your own.

    My gym offers all the weight/gym equipment which can be accessed any time it is open but really does not push you much further than the standard six rounds of skipping (intensity based on personal will and ability) and six rounds of push ups/squats/sit ups in a ninety minute class.

    I skip 3 rounds of rope, after that I'm beat, so I head home and brag to all my friends that I go to a boxing gym.

    My gym runs classes that people who are just there for a fun workout do. The boxers can do them whenever they want to but they aren't mandatory.

    I'll do the class once in a while but I do most of my stuff on my own.
