Yawn. Very little can be done to improve a chin. Mental toughness adds to it, but not enough to change Khan's from the glass it's made out of. Pacquiao would ice him in a fight inside four. Four would be if Khan just moved away as much as possible before getting caught.
It's pretty simple, headgear. Without it, he'd be chicken dancing his way to the changing rooms each sparring session
We will find out if it`s improved against Maidana. They aint going to come out and say Manny or anyone else is knocking him about in sparring. His chin has not really been tested since Prescott.Kotelnik is the hardest hitter he has faced since and he is hardly Julian Jackson.Maidana should give us some idea if he has improved.
If he gets KO'ed badly again he definitely has a china chin, at the moment its just a very suspect chin, i think people should be given the benefit of the doubt once but i wouldnt be suprised to see him rocked again in the future
De La Hoya started at Super Feather and suffered some early career flash knockdowns. It's the same with Khan - he has now settled at a higher weight.
It hasn't. Headgear and bigger gloves does not explain him taking Pacs shots, as Craig Watson had him badly hurt and dropped with a short left in one of his last amateur fights. Quite simply Pac was not throwing with real intent. If he was and he landed Khan would be out cold. His chin may well have improved a fair bit by moving up in weight, but it will still be bad.
What the hell? you are talking about the chin of a 16 or 17 year old amateur who was still developing and not even at that point a man. He was still a teen for the first few years as a pro, people seem to forget this, he was still growing and filling out. He did begin to outgrow lightweight, simply because he was constantly developing physically. Also he had a bad weight distribution, big upper body and chicken legs. He's since balanced the muscle out a bit more, gained his man strength and is beginning to settle at 140lbs. I him as a welter in the next few years. From what we've seen of Khan, at 140, is definiately a more finely tuned athelete, and having better balance and footwork means he's not getting tagged so much. Maidana will be the acid test and if he can take his power, then the sky is the limit for Khan. So let's wait and see about the chin. That question is soon to be answered.
