Haven't bothered with the link but I am studying a degree in business administration so I can simplify it:

    Great product
    Great branding

I don't think the marketing methodology is the reason it has grown so fast. I think the reason it has grown so fast is because it attracts athletes and fans alike from the MMA "background" sports. People with wrestling, muay thai, jiu jitsu, judo and tae kwon do backgrounds make for a larger consumer and participant population. A wrestling coach and wrestling team members may be more inclined to watch an established wrestler participate in an MMA event than watch a pair of boxers box each other, if you know what I mean.

The UFC has been shrinking since 2009 actually. It peaked at UFC 100

Maybe true, but you'll find most Muay Thai guys watch boxing & rarely watch MMA. Boxing we understand, it's our closest relative, but there are large parts of MMA that are very alien to us and our concept of fighting. Lots of respectful the sport though.

Oh man ……….. My friend, the sporting world does equate to the numbers the UFC is doing, it is a Global Brand, that is a designation in branding and marketing terminology, to be a "Global Brand" you have to hit a criteria which the UFC does.

What you have ear marked is a minor percentage of the UFC's target audience, and I mean below 1%, yes that minor :D

    :good

    True

But shrinking is not the term I'd use

Plateauing since 2009 is probably more accurate ....... I don't think there is a lot of upside but I could be wrong. I think if they wanted to cash out they should have a plan on stacking their cards making the biggest fights for a good 3-6 months and getting out

UFC has already sold off a part of their company to the Arabs. This ship is sinking slowly but surely and I see them selling eventually to a corporate consortium led by a major tv broadcaster like Fox.

It grew fast because it tapped into the market of millions of angry young white males who likes to see similar people beat each other up while they swig beer.
