As above really. How healthy do you think British boxing is at the top level of the game. Have we got a lot of good talent? Is that talent likely to be succesful for an extended period of time, do the likes of Froch, Khan, Haye have longevity? Are there any guys out there, like Kell Brook, who you feel are ready, or close to being ready to step up onto the big stage anytime soon?
I think Khan will be mixing it at a world-cass level for a while yet. Haye is looking to retire after a few fights, and doesn't Froch see himself retiring in a couple years too? I think we have some promising young talent coming up the ranks, not proven at world level yet but plenty of potential down the line.
the plus and negs is are pretty solid domestic scene. unlike other country's the domestic scene can be finished in 3 matches at most. in britain it's a continous stream of solid but not immensly special fighters. how many times has there been brit merry go rounds. jnr middles, the heavy's, the bantams seem to be going round in circles beating the guy that beat the guy that beat the guy who you beat. take a look at most of or domestics and you'll notice that the best ones are either too young/unexperienced to go on to the world scene and others who are to old or lose at the final hurdle. some take a sidestep and pick inter-continental belts and the wbu/iba/wbf circuit. that way you can choose effectivly who you need to fight. and step up. the commonwealth circuit is also a mild sidestep becuase you can ignore the top world class commonwealthers (new word) and fight an afrobum, a carribibum, an australibum canadibum. fighters who just arnt in your level but cements you as a holder of a title that is pretty well respected if you are th holder that incorperates half the world then yeah it will push you infront
i think british boxing is not at its best on the world stage at the moment, but the future looks bright....give a year maybe 3 at the most, and the UK will be a major force.
Not so healthy at the moment with Calzaghe and Hatton gone and going maybe. Froch leading the way though. There don't seem to be many fighters on the fringe of top 10. Need to see Jamie Moore moving up plus Barker and Monroe kick on as will be a while before the 'olympians' get there.
pretty diabolical ..but got a few young prospect coming through...to early to say weather they will reach the world stage thou.
