The only time i really see this is with Americans

They get behind an American fighter like Lacy and hype him to the stars

Then a legit Tysonesque monster comes along in Beterbiev, and no one raises an eyelid

(big generalization obviously, there are some great American boxing fans, but it seems if you aint American, even if you are a charismatic monster like Gennady you aint gonna get the break)

You mean the Golovkin who packs crowds in on both sides of America, and gets good numbers on American TV?

Some of the biggest names on the American scene arent American.

    Kovalev
    Pacquiao
    Canelo

All huge stars in the states.

The Brits are just as bad as we are. But since I don't hype American fighters that often, I can fairly call it like I see it, we're both annoying and uber nationalistic.

Edit: Never mind, misread the topic. Yea, I'm slightly biased against American and Brit fighters.

its very hard to find an american fan that will give credit to any fighter outside of there own country , we all know its true so no point arguing about it .

Here's what I've noticed as a Brit who's lived in America for 25 years.

Us Brits hype up our fighters more. Americans are far more reluctant to give credit to European fighters than vice versa.

Not at all. Fighters only fight for themselves, not their country. My 5 favourite boxers are either Kazakh, British or American.

Amateurs is a bit different where I'll cheer on GB.

generally people support their "own" whether that's on a nationalist level or a racial / ethnic / religious level. Yeh 90% of the time i'll support a british fighter over one from another country, and would rather watch a fight involving british fighters (as long as its competitive) then watch a big fight that doesn't involve anyone british.

I'd also rather watch low level live boxing in my local area than watch foreign prospects on youtube (though I do like your threads CST80!)

Not too much, but at the moment I like it when fighters from hype countries like the US and the UK get their asses handed to them by fighters from small and/or relatively unkown countries.

looks like some fans believe a passport can give someone superpowers.

Im a danish-iranian. I love Mikkel Kessler, however I'm a die hard Froch fan and rooted both times for Carl to beat Kessler, but against everyone else i cheer for Kessler. However I'm also glad that no one really hypes Kessler anymore in Denmark, because sometimes the hype was too much.
For some strange reason i seem to personally fancy british & canadian boxers, for different reasons. I like the british boxing culture and the fan base over there and produced some likable fighters to me. Canada, well because i love the country in general, it is like a good version of America and Montreal is a good boxing city.

I think it really depends on who you ask, i'd say that the good thing about boxing is that it is not so nationalistic compared to other sports like: Football / Soccer. Which i think is pretty good.

I think both brits and americans have their fair share of nationalistic posters on this forum, however brits seems to be more loyal to their fighter, where as americans tend to overhype their boxers and as soon as they lose, they are just a bum. If i were a boxer i would love to have british boxing fans behind me.

I literally don't care where the fighter is from, this isn't the Olympics, there Aren't any countries with a proffesional boxing team so a fighters nationality is complete irrelevant.

my fav current fighters are obviously influenced by the nation in which I am most exposed to them.

That said, some of them aren't. KO4clev is from as far away as they can get.

I do find myself letting my heart rule my head when it comes to British fighters, I am desperate for them to do well.

On the other side, I do not dislike a fighter because of where they are from, I like and have liked fighters from all over the world.

As for fans well British fans are the best boxing fans in the world, it's not even close.

We follow our fighters all over the world in decent numbers and you'll know we are there because we are very noisy.
