Obviously whilst remaining an effective, fit, elite fighter. the guy is only 25,6ft3,powerful and struggles at 160(he was 169 for a fight 2 years ago) how big when he's say 30ish. is cruiser out of the question?
pavlik is a huge middleweight, with all the strength training he does i wonder how he makes the weight.
natural fighting weight = 168 max fit fighting weight 175 The man is 6'3"; larger than most at 168...shows no significant body mass at 160. He is draining himself to make 160, literally looks emaciated. It's more than entirely likely he's at a detriment at 160 lacking the nourishment to compete at 100%. 168 is the natural fighting weight at this stage of his career. His power and strength will be greater at 168, and peak at or just below 175. Saying 175 is out of the question is ridiculous.
I like Pavlik over all at 168 with the exception of Calzaghe, Kessler, and Green. Saying at 6'3" middleweight who looks emaciated at 160 and just broke down a man who outpointed BHOP twice (who has made noise at 175) will have no problem at 168. He'll have greater endurance, power, speed, strength...everything. I'm 6'1"...i fight between 147 and 160 pounds. There's a big difference in how i feel fighting at 147 (where i look as drained as Pavlik did) and when i fight at 154 or 160. The extra fuel and extra mass help. I can cover more of my body with the extra mass on my arms and back, and i can go more rounds at a faster pace with the extra energy from being well rounded nutritionally. I'm more alert, focused, and my timing is on point.
I would recommend that he unify (if he can) at 160, then move up in weight as soon as he possible to beat the winner of Kessler-Calzaghe. 168 seems like a better place for him to dominate in the long term.
Well, he's naturally lanky and has a lean body so it might not be THAT tough for him to make 160 seeing that he does run a lot just like Hopkins did. If he'd dedicated, maybe he can put together a long string of defenses.
Ideally, I'd like to see him fight Abraham, then move up. The Taylor rematch and potential huge money against the winner of Calzaghe/Kessler obviously could affect that plan, though. I think he can be very bit as good at 168 as he can at 160, but I think he'll probably lose a bit at 175.
I think that is possible, depending how long his career is. He has talked about fighting till his early 30s then retire.
Love to to see him go up weight and fight Chad Dawson or maybe Adamek, would be interesting match ups
