Only fair to say that it was less than two years after Louis’s professional debut.

Look at the opposition that the other fighters whose names you are tossing around were fighting in their second professional year.

Frazier's right is criminally underrated actually. But in any case I agree that Louis beats him.

That is one of the reasons why Louis was special. He trusted his fighting instincts and never got wild, reckless or sloppy. I don't think Louis even knew how to be sloppy.

He only needed a split second to turn a fighter into a jelly-like mess on the canvas. It may take him some time to find that opening, but more often than not he would, either by creating it himself or because his opponent got a little careless.

I sparred with him years after his retirement. He actually used his right hand a lot more often. It was deadly.

I can't think of any fighter I'd make an outright favourite to beat a prime Joe Louis.

That`s funny. Foreman is made to order for Louis. A deer in the headlights.

We all know that styles make fights. And that possibly no heavyweight would beat ALL the great heavyweights in history...They would come the closest but would most likely lose to one fighter who just had his "number". I happen to think that the one great heavyweight who would beat most everyone at his best was the Joe Louis of the Max Baer era. He had panther like movements, text book boxing techniques, and the most beautiful and devastating explosive
punching combinations ever in a fighter period...Some critics say Louis was too "small" for the mastodons of today...Baloney, Louis at 200 pounds was powerful and muscular, able to carry his power for 15 rounds if necessary, and
flexible and lithe enough to beat his heavier foes to the punch most every time.
Sure a Foreman or Liston, Lewis could hurt him if they landed but with the guidance of Jack Blackburn, Louis would be aware of this and land "fustess with the mostess " as speed trumps one punch power most every time...The two great heavyweight stylists I believe that would pose the biggest threat to Louis were Jack Dempsey because of his swiftness, bobbing and weaving and ferocious punching starting from the git go..And young Mike Tyson with his
powerful uppercuts, and two handed power punches that could ko a horse if landed...Ali, I cannot envision him avoiding the Joe Louis murderously fast and accurate knockout power of the Max Baer era...Louis's jab described by Jimmy Braddock like "a light bulb exploding in your face", was better than Ken Norton's
jab that gave Louis so much problems , and at some point Louis has to catch Clay/Ali and stop him...Ali had a great chin but certainly no better than the
concrete jaw of Max Baer and Paolino Uzcudun, and we know what happened to them...

imo? third greatest heavyweight of all time. i have him behind ali and marciano. if he were to fight rocky, and rocky put on a few lbs to make weight (which he clearly could drive himself to do) personally marciano woulda had even more ludicrous levels of power.
