he's good and tough but far from elite or p4p material. Ortiz should have got him out.. Khan..never mind.
I never saw you guys talk about him with such high regard a couple of years ago... Lamont has always been a great talent.
My head says this, but my heart says he'll prove us all wrong that's the kind of guy he seems to be. I like his toughness and will as well as his outside the ring attitude, I wish him well.
He's one of my favorite fighters he's smarter than most and adapts better than most, but he's borderline elite. I don't think he drew with Ortiz and I think he got lucky against Khan, but if Lamont keeps improving and evolving into a complete fighter and be on a level as a Bradley or Marquez he can. He's got experience from fighting the best he needs to use it. At this point he'd only be game vs a Marquez or Bradley, but I like that he can box or brawl just needs to take it up a notch. He does that he can take the world by surprise. He's a blue collar underdog I think a lot of Americans may relate too but he needs to fight like hell. I sense he can still take it up a notch.
If Peterson dominates and stops Khan then i will change my mind about dude. He stated about having 5 tactics etc..so show and prove!!
Good, solid fighter. He's the kind of guy that doesn't jump out as being special or a distinctive talent, so he was underestimated prior to the Khan fight. Even though there's nothing flashy or immediately impressive about him, he's a good all-rounder. Mental and physical toughness, he remembers to throw to the body as well as the head, he can box on the outside or fight on the inside, etc. Apparently one of his heroes is Marquez, and I think he tries to follow Marquez's example of combining technical boxing with punching it out. He doesn't have the 'wow' factor that you get when you see guys like Floyd, Pac, Donaire, etc, but he's a good fighter.
I would say he is an A- fighter, and the only thing he is missing is 1-punch KO power. He has great boxing fundamentals, and is one of the few guys that still does a great job of attacking the body. He is also tough as hell. Peterson is one rugged MF, and he does not back down from anyone. Even in the Bradley fight, he kept on coming forward and landed a bunch of good shots from Round 3 onward. TB was just a little better at everything that night, and LP didn't have the power to turn the fight around.
tough but not champion material......to me he will be one of those guys that will always come short....well if he does not fight on his hometown....
Beating Khan, I have him as number 1 in the division. He's not necessarily the best or most accomplished fighter there, but he's had the most important recent success. I think he can continue competing with those at the top. A Bradley rematch, fights with Alexander, Matthysse, Maidana, etc. are all winnable fights for him.
