You don't piggy back off someone's accomplishments just cause you beat them. That's not how it works.

Lemieux is a shattering puncher. No reason at all for GGG to go to war with him when he was so much the better boxer.

Re the latter, no, I don't rate Canelo that high. But you shouldn't be having close fights with someone 3 years inactive

I think both Hagler and Golovkin's resumes aren't that great but I believe Golovkin is more skilled than him

Hearns and Duran were levels above anybody from GGG's resume. Yes, Duran was fighting way above his natural weight, but he still won the title against much bigger prime Barkley years after losing to Hagler. And Hearns had amazing career after being demolished by Hagler.

They weren't levels above everyone on GGG's resume. Duran was a lightweight. Just because you beat the famed Duran doesn't mean it's a good win - the guy was a lightweight, beating Barkley (who already had multiple defeats) after several years of adjusting to the heavier weights does not equate to a same sized fighter beating a prime Duran.

Prime GGG is a H2H phenom at MW.

Really unfortunate that he was unable to get certain fights which leaves his resume lacking but I'd put him against any MW in history.

Who's above Duran and Hearns, Lemmy, Jacobs, Derev? Canelo?

A well written post I think. I agree with much of it.

"There was a kind of simple precision to his boxing..." pretty much sums it up for me.

My reply isn't as well expressed as your post but whenever I watched GGG: his movements, his balance, just his general stance reminded me of old fashioned greats.

I can't put my finger on exactly who he reminded me of.

But I think you could tell GGG was good just by the way he moved - even before he threw a punch.

Great fighter who was ducked in his prime by every relevant name. Martinez, Froch, Cotto, Floyd, Ward and probably more I forgot. He was robbed against Canelo.

He was never able to beat Canelo as clear as Bivol did, so that raises some questions. But GGG was past his prime at that point.

Great fighter, but lacks a deep resume

You know the Commissions must know what's going on, they surely can score a fight & know when a robbery has occurred. They ignore them because they agree with them. The judges know who the "favoured" fighter is & to score appropriately I'm sure. They want to keep working the top assigments. I wouldn't trust any of them as far as I can throw them

Why not?? If you legitimately beat your opponent you are regarded as being the better fighter. GGG beat Canelo TWICE!!! but got the Vegas shaft & EVERYONE knows it. Heck GGG was over 40 for the third fight & Canelo BARELY beat him. Canelo :pipiGGG In my book plus I believe the majority of real fight people

Top 5 H2H ATG MW. GGG could only fight who was in front of him and in his prime nobody of note wanted that smoke…
