How high in the P4P list would you put Kessler?

    Top 11-15 right now.

But if Mijares qualifies without beating Montiel (how the hell?), you could almost make an argument putting Kessler up to the 10th. I think neither deserve it yet. And if you put Mijares up, why don't you rank Joan Guzman in the top10, a multi-division world champion, who did more IMO that Mijares in his career?

Kessler is somewhere at 11-15 on my list.

You just told me it doesn't matter what they did, its "p4p". Make your mind up. If it matters what they've achieved recently you can forget about Toney getting near a top 30.

He didn't beat Marquez on my scorecard.

There are fighters on that list whose name carries more p4p clout than their recent achievements do. Kessler's easily in the top 15 despite what people may think. He's a top world class operator. He's beaten every opponent with ease and gave a very good account of himself against Calzaghe in defeat. Kessler doesn't get the respect he deserves on this board and alot of that comes from ignorance. He's clearly the best fighter in his division. The #2 guy, Bute, is facing a fighter who Kessler dominated. Don't be fooled by the people who say that Andrade gave Kessler a fight. Andrade's chin just made it seem that it was a competitive fight when in actuality, Kessler was pasting him all night. We'll see how Bute does against the same opponent.

Btw, an interesting stat that many overlook is that up until the Calzaghe fight, Kessler had lost maybe a handful of rounds in his entire career and 3 or 4 of them came against Mundine with a bad back. Pretty impressive stuff.

Oh you actually watched the fight! I only watched highlight of that on youtube.

both skillset and accomplishment matter of course. Accomplishment would give one an idea of a fighter's skillset and/or his actual worth as a fighter. We cannot gauge Kessler properly because he seldom fights outside Denmark. Anybody have an idea if boxers from Denmark are world-class? Arthur Abraham seldom fights out of Germany but Abraham seem to have a better KO percentage than Kessler and is unbeaten what make Kessler a better fighter?

11-15 seems pretty fair. He is very very talented and I think everyone seems to dwell on the one defeat as opposed to his entire body of work.

Would I be harsh if I called Mundine and Andrade B-class fighters? :hey

even a 36-year old gave a better performance than he did against the same guy....oh, and actually managed to score a knockdown too. ;)

Call them what you will but doing so wouldn't detract from Kessler as he did exactly what a top fighter should do against "B-class" fighters...beat them and beat them soundly.

I agree, I like to consider both skills and recent resume.

If you watch Abraham and Kessler you'll realise quite easily why Kessler is better overall, and why Abraham has a better KO percentage. Abraham conserves all his energy by being inactive and defensive, and then wings in huge hurtful counters. Kessler fights at a consistent pace, always using a jab. Hence if they ever fought, Abraham would have to knock him out to win the fight as he's too inactive and not as skilled.

i think about 12 at moment but he has the potential to get in the top 8 or better if he fights a few yanks.especially if a few of the top boys retire like they say they are going to.

Some fighters specially those with an extensive amateur record tend to exhibit these "skills" against patsies but when faced with fighters with equal fundamentals they usually get exposed... Amir Khan, Naseem Hamed. Kessler is lucky his division isn't stacked with fighters with such fundamentals. :yep
