The guy think he is better than SRR. You do the maths based on that.

its your opinion to decide how high the standards are for him...the point is i dont think floyd will ever be fairly assessed until he is like 60 because people hate him so much and the standards are so high...

everyone says he is boring because he doesnt kill everyone in the ring
everyone claims who they want him to fight and he fights them and there is always someone new
    everyone diminishes his accomplishments

i think its sad that boxing is always bitching about wanting someone to save the sport yet there is floyd who is a great boxer yet everyone hates and spits on him

Well I can already see that Manny isnt being held to the standards that Floyd was before he retired. Manny people are now saying should have fighters come to him, but when floyd was p4p it was the other way around...Remember all the bitching and cring about Hatton going up to 147??? But know Mosley should come down even though he fought Oscar at 147...Cotto should come down...Even though he fought Oscar at 147..

The bar was set higher for floyd because people didnt like the guy its that simple. so whatever he did wasnt good enough.

He has set the standard with his mouth. If he says he is better than SRR we dont want to see him fighting little Hatton or Baldomir.

Its realistic when you consider how highly he speaks of his OWN credentials and how highly his fans rate him.

Whats unrealistic about wanting him to fight the best?

    BS.

The bar is set higher for Floyd because he was a complete fighter with unworldly talent from almost the moment he stepped onto the world class stage. When you are kayoed as a young fighter and labeled as a one-handed brawler for virtually half your pro career, then evolve into the kind of complete fighter Manny has become, you don't create the same kind of expectations. Who honestly thought, outside of a few longtime *******s, that Manny would reach this level in the sport?

It has nothing to do with "liking" Floyd. It has to do with a perception that he has never lived up to his ability, which over the course of his career, he has never been able to dispel.

In my expectation he must become at the very least a Top 20 all-time fighter. His skill gives him the opportunity for this to happen.

but it is your choice to listen to "his mouth" you know why he does all that talking.... it doesn't mean you have to buy into it

not sure if you saw that brian kenny interview but you saw what he was saying.....

    fight hatton floyd
    fight baldomir floyd

he does it and its not enough

Floyd does have a higher bar set for him than Pac, but that's nothing more than a side effect of their respective attitudes. It doesn't bother me that he's cocky which is why I don't post much on Mayweather, but that doesn't mean there aren't side effects to the angles he works. When you've got one guy who's public persona is as humbled as Pac's, and the other one likes to play the villain in fight build ups and talks about his place amongst guys like SRR while he's still fighting, it's only natural that people expect more out of the latter and are harder on him.

It's just how they choose to sell fights. If it were an old western show, Floyd would be the guy wearing the black hat and cape and Manny would be sporting the white one because it's clear if this fight went down, it'd be classic hero vs villain. And there's nothing wrong with that- each guy's a millionaire many times over from it, so the marketing strategy couldn't have been all that bad.

He set it high because he thinks he is the greatest ever. Pacquiao on the other hand is just doing his job, nothing personal LOL.

Floyd raised the bar with his very high opinion of himself, and doing enough in the ring to make one wonder...maybe he is that great.
