How high would you all rate ex-champ P. Charles Williams at 175?

    Folks,

This topic may be General or even Classic, but at any rate, who here feels Prince Charles Williams was a great fighter at 175 pounds who was often over-looked?
    :huh

I just finished watching Williams' successful title defense over rugged Frankie Swindel from the early 1990s... The fight originally aired on ESPN with Al Bernstein calling the action.........
    :patsch
Q: Was Prince Charles Williams really a great blue collar fighter / champion who was over-looked, or was he just merely good with a bland personality???
    :rasta
I do know that his 1994 KO loss to Jim Toney on HBO at 168 pounds hurt his legacy........ Williams was KO'd by a single Toney right hand in the 12th and final round.......

He was very good, but not great. He woulda put up a good effort, but lost had he fought in the early 80's crop.

His real claim to fame was hammering Bobby Czyz 2 X over........ But I agree that Charles Williams was good.......

Lack of posts indicate TOO MANY youthful kids on the site / forum............ Christ, I thought we'd get some "Williams" fans to come about......... I was wrong........

i always liked williams, was a warrior, one of the best fights of the early 90's not to happen was williams vs michel moorer, also would of liked to of seen williams against another under rated rival champion virgil hill

He was good and rugged enough that Hill avoided him. O good fighter in a pretty good era of lt heavies.

No one of these teeny boppers in the general forum know anything about boxing if its not Pac, Floyd, Cotto, Williams, Kessler, Froch Calzaghe, Haye, or Vitali.

They dont know who Charles Williams is.

Williams had to be very good to beat Czyz twice. I say PCW is generally underrated.

Very good fighter that just always got over looked because of a few earlier loses. Unifying would have helped him alot but.......

And his 2 fights with Sosa???? Oh boy!!!!!!!

Williams was more interesting than Hill, but Williams fought for that Becky O'Neil ***** who couldn't manage a little league baseball team, nor make any money in the process.....
    :patsch

Hill was a bore for the most part, but at least he got national TV coverage as champ.....
    :deal

Sad to say, but so very true, Charles Williams wasn't even a household name in his own house.......

For the most part, Charles Williams fought / defended on the bum-of-the-month networks..... A good fighter who was a sorry mother.....

Czyz was able to rebound from his losses to P.C. Williams in the 80s to beat Don Lalonde at 190 lbs. in the early 90s.... I've got all this **** on tape / file......

williams was very good, but unfortunately none of the best fought the best back then,,,michael moorer wanted to fight them all but they were avoiding him like the plaque.
the toney fight doesnt hurt his legacy...he was champ for a long time and was going toe to toe with toney in a war...got caught and that was that....his fights vs merqui sosa were brutal.......
