How highly do you factor skill when making p4p rankings?

That's all well and good, but the fact that you were quoting me, then replying to things I wasn't saying was of course going to lead to confusion.

If all you wanted to do was make your own point that p4p rankings are flawed and inconsistent there was no reason to have ever quoted me. I didn't make this thread in support of "The Ring" or any other publication's way of doing p4p rankings. I made this thread in response to rankings I've disagreed with from all kinds of sources where it appeared that people were making them while placing what I thought was FAR too much emphasis on skill/potential instead of what the fighters were actually doing in the ring at the time and over the course of their careers.

I quoted you because you talked about resumes, you give more importance to resumes whe it comes to P4P rankings and I wanted to show you that resumes won't make the P4P ranking more credible.

That was the whole reason why I quoted you. Don't take it too serious after all it is just my opinion.

BTW. I am happy that you brought up this topic.

P4P is just something we fans do for fun. I do not not take it too seriously. When I rank P4P the whole package comes into play, skills, resume etc. If a fantastic fighter just happens to fight in a division that seems to be weak, additional guesswork has to come into play. Cazaghe's career pre-Lacy is a pretty good example. Early Tyson too. Calzaghe after Lacy and Kessler lead me rate his previous accomplishments a bit higher than @ the time he was going through the so called tomato cans. With Tyson, I always think, what if he had to go against some really good fighters in 87-89?
