I think he's up there with the rest of them SMWs. Calzaghe gets great plaudits but c'mon, did he really fight at the level Froch has been at for the past 7-8 fights?

I have no problem to him losing to a guy like Ward, it's not like he got check-hooked into the corner post.

Froch is an enigma, technically woeful, slow as hell but has sheer bloody mindedness and a winners mentality that gets the job done.

Yeah, he's alongside Calzaghe, Benn & Eubank for me.

He can be buzzed by average punchers (Dirrell, Taylor) and even Ward made him think twice with his clean but powerless punches. He is tough and takes a fair amount amount, so obviously got a very good chin. I don't think it would hold up to a fair few clean shots from a big puncher, Abraham had the dig but lacked the application.

Clinton Woods and Chris Eubank above him for sure. He's probably more in the Calzaghe, Rudkin, Conteh category, though the Liverpudlians evidently faced the far better punchers than either Joe or Carl.
