Hardly worth mentioning in the scheme of things...I mean it is when reflecting on Mike's career considering he started out at 154 but it is fairly insignificant when talking about the divisions history. Barely got past Harding who was gutsy but fairly average at the best of times...Lost pretty clearly to so-so Tiozo. He was pretty fleshy and slow up there...but hung with the fighters he took on because he had a lot of tricks in his bag at that stage.
He was nearing 40 at the time and managed to win a belt and defend it one time... This 20 lbs above his best weight.
Mike was a big enough guy. 78 inch reach which was equal to Hearns. Pretty much 6 ft tall. A lot of experience in the mid 1990's when the division was not great. He never took a big beating, so really what he did at 175 was not that impressive.
