How highly do you rate Pac's perfomance in Pac-Barrera I?

Yeah...only Duran/Leonard I was a competitive, two-way battle, D.

Marco was also universally regarded as being a top 3 p4per, not "the man".

 

Yep, I know I give Barrera some **** at times but I never knock his fighting ability (saying I think Morales is a bit better than MAB is NOT knocking his fighting ability, Addie ) & they proved that when both were at their absolute primes, only each other could live with them, they were THAT good at their best.
Pac & Marquez never faced the versions that fought each other in the 1st or 2nd fights (Pac even lost to the version of Erik that fought Marco in the 3rd fight for **** sake)... those versions of Morales & Barrera beat Pac & JMM at those respective weights in that time frame aka no-one being past prime or battle worn.

 

I believe RJJ was Mr p4p at this time (2003) & I have no fkn clue what fight you were watching if you seen anything other than a close 15 rd war in SRL-Duran I.

 

I heard Guty Espedas was jobbed against Morales

 

Close fight, could have gone either way. Morales handled his business in the rematch.

Nah, I own the fight, it could have went either way, Morales had the lead & gave away the last 2 or so rds, he couldnt have complained had it gone to Espadas but no-one was robbed or jobbed.... supposedly Erik had a liver problem in that one, whether thats true **** knows, he KO`d Espadas in 3 rds in the rematch regardless.

 

Yep, I used to think the Naz win was his best because it was much clearer but when you think that that version of Morales was likely still better than Hamed & Barrera was better himself in 02 then yes, Morales III might be his best.

 

That's my reasoning. Morales of 2004 was still better than any version of Hamed, IMO.

 

This was more of a butt-whipping than a boxing lesson.

Young Pac had to much speed and athleticism, and was just walking into MAB, throwing 1-2-1's and beat the snot out of him. Pac has had way better boxing performances(He was actually damn sloppy in this fight), but he was definitely the young lion in with MAB, exploded all over him with sheer talent and enthusiasm, and sent him packing.

 

Barrera's feet were painfully slow by this time too.

he makes guys like Mccallum and Louis look like they were wearing the winged sandals of Hermes.
