I don't think he was a great fighter ,but I'm rather reluctant to use that term anyway.

Yeah I think Norris would've beaten Mayweather.

    Good wins against:

    Quincy Taylor
    Steve Little
    Jorge Vaca
John Mugabi - who was on an 11 fight KO streak and only had 2 losses when they fought (Hagler in '86 and the thumb to the eye against Duane Thomas)
    Leonard
    Donald Curry
    Jorge Castro
    Carl Daniels
    Meldrick Taylor
    Maurice Blocker
    Troy Waters
    Simon Brown
    Paul Vaden
    Vincent Pettway

Some pretty good names there with former champs, ATG's and young bucks.

I remember Brett Lally putting him down for a count. Norris' chin was the weakest part of his game, imo.
I agree that he beats Floyd though because Norris was a speed demon and very skilled. Also naturally a fair bit larger than Mayweather, which is why I'd pick him.

Lally put him down? Could've sworn Lally lasted 59 seconds...

    Troy Waters put him down.

As a great scribe at the time wrote... "If Troy Waters can put Terry Norris on the canvas, Julio Cesar Vazquez would put him through it."

On his best day he was an amazing fighter. His only liability was his chin. Best for best he outpoints Mayweather. (Superior to Floyd in every offensive category, and Floyd is not a big enough puncher to hurt Norris) Unfortunately, Terry's neurological state was pretty shaky when I spoke with him 10 years ago. Hopefully, he is doing better.

an all time great that would send most other atgs packing early given his incredible speed

just when he was given up for dead, aced Mugabi for the title in front of a disbelieving Maiami crowd

then silenced his next audience as well, in NYC as he painted Sugar into a corner and had him covering all night, too intimidated to even THINK of retaliating

that's what speed N power can do

Curry tried fighting back but the speed of Norris was too much, like fighting three men at once which we know is impossible to do

outsped the fastest man in history, Mel Taylor in 4 and wouldve done the same with Chavez considering the problems he had with no power Pernel Whitaker

came in unprepared for Brown but the real Norris showed up in the next fight. It was no contest as Terry was just impossible to beat!

doubters only doubt cuz they want to doubt

Yet he avoided Julio Cesar Vazquez like the plague.

When was a good time for that match to be made? And was Vasquez the #1 contender or just a separate belt holder? I can't remember at the moment. I'm guessing Whitaker beat JCV around 1994ish?
