Never knocked out or really even hurt badly in a career that spanned 30 years and five weight classes and multiple world championships. The guy was the real deal. He talked **** and backed it up. An ATG without question.
Absolutely an ATG. He was a mw and even at Hw never was knocked out. He was simply better than Michael nunn who was very good
Definitely an ATG although not as great as Jones and Hopkins imo. He had a great run at MW and looked great at SMW. He had a dismal run at LHW. He had a good run at CW and HW. Definitely an ATG.
I think he falls into the category of a p4p great, but never really did enough or stayed around 1 division for long enough to be a staple top 20 at any particular weight, apart from SMW due to it being so modern.
It's hard to rate Toney in any division as near the top,, but I rate him highly for his overall body of work.
Excellent fighter who had a distinct, eye pleasing style, took on many of the best challenges he could find and was as tough as anyone. I rate Toney highly, and consider him one of the best MWs of a strong era.
All-time great. One of my favorites absolutely loved watching him fight even when he was fat. He’s hard to rank in a divisional sense. I would imagine he’s in the top 100 boxers of all-time. Maybe around 70-80.
