How highly would Wilder be rated if he had wins over... undefeated HW champ and big puncher Martin undefeated HW big puncher Brezeale undefeated HW champ Parker undefeated HW Whyte How highly do you think Wilder would be rated if he held those wins being an undefeated American HW champ? Discuss
I'd rate him considerably higher if he had the parker win And a bit higher if he had the other 3 And a LOT higher if he had klitschko But he doesn't so weird thread really
Omg his ball bag would be stretched so far with all his nut huggers riding it 24/7. Actually that happens now..
Nobody in the US would care. Parker might be a big enough name. But those other guys wouldn't matter. Wilder knocks them all out though.
Its not a weird thread . Thats just you trying to make comment. Still you answered fair enough. I wasnt including Klitschko
If Wilder had those wins it would have given him a unification fight against an undefeated power punching HW in Martin, so I can imagine had Wilder beaten an undefeated HW champ in a unification it would have had some fans rate him highly. Then if he had wins over other undefeated HWs like Whyte and Brezeale and another unification with Parker another undefeated HW champ. I think the hype would be really big
I think they would. Look at how people rated Duhaupas for giving Wilder a few rounds. Why do you think Wilder would knock them all out? If Parker is elusive like he was against Joshua he could go rounds and Wilder didnt knock out Stiverne the first time they fought
If he had the Klitchko win as well, there would be some on here discussing where on the ATG list he already was.
Elusive for whom? Joshua? That's because Joshua is a big stiff robot with arms as big as another man's legs. Joshua is a lesser version of Wlad at this point. Wilder will not have nearly as much trouble landing on Parker.
You may be right. Styles make fights but im not so sure. Ortiz is slower than Parker IMO and for several rounds Wilder seemed to struggle to land, same applies with Washington. Thing as well is, would Wilder face Parker? Wilder may feel it is a big risk with a Joshua fight looking a bit closer
Well, first, Dillian Whyte was well known in the UK because he fought Anthony Joshua when they were amateurs and won. That was it. The Brits built it into a rivalry before they fought. But Whyte-Joshua wasn't televised in the U.S. None of Whyte's fights have been televised in the U.S. except for his fight a few weeks ago against Browne. Wilder and Whyte didn't have a rivalry. In 2015 when Joshua fought Whyte, the only recognizable name on Whyte's record was Brian Minto. Whyte is a solid contender now. But back then, that was only a big fight in the UK. So if Wilder had fought the unknown Dillian Whyte in 2015, a Whyte who had fought and beaten absolutely no one, I don't know how much credit Wilder would've gotten. None probably. Beating Whyte in 2015 would've meant absolutely nothing. Regarding Charles Martin, if you didn't have YouTube, likely the only time you saw Charles Martin ever (unless you were one of the few people who attended his fights) was when you saw Czar Glazkov blow out his knee and Martin was awarded a win on the Wilder-Duhaupas undercard. At the time, there was talk Wilder might fight Martin, and I'm pretty sure I remember people on here going insane because they wanted Wilder to fight Povetkin and fighting Martin was viewed as a totally cowardly move. So I doubt Wilder would've gotten much traction out of that win. Especially then. And Martin was arguably the worst paper champ in the division's history. He never did anything before that or after. So that leaves us with Breazeale and Parker. If he stunk out the joint against Parker like Joshua did, I don't see any positives coming out of that. Nobody wants to see Joshua win a boring decision, just like nobody wants to see Wilder win a boring decision. Beating Breazeale would've been fine. But Wilder would've been expected to beat Breazeale then like he would be expected to beat him now. I recall back then that many people at the time griping after Breazeale got the decision over Kassi (which was disputed) because (they said) Wilder was going to fight him next. None of those fights really lift Wilder, unless he happened to score a brutal early KO over Parker like he did Stiverne. So, to summarize: *IF Wilder beat Whyte in 2015, people would've complained because Whyte was a nobody. * IF Wilder fought Martin in 2015, people would've complained because Martin was terrible and Wilder was supposed to fight Povetkin. *IF Wilder fought Breazeale, people would've complained because they'd say Breazeale didn't deserve the win over Kassi to begin with. *IF Wilder fought Parker and won a boring decision last week, and Joshua had wasted Ortiz, people would be calling Parker a bum and complaining that Wilder showed no desire. Essentially, if Wilder fought Whyte, Martin, Breazeale and Parker the same way Joshua did, Wilder would be RIDICULED for it. Whereas, Joshua is praised. I think I got that right.
Wilder would actually be rated less. The only name out of those 4 that matter is Parker's and Joshua didn't cleanly beat him. Charles Martin got the title against Glazkov, but since when was Martin a big puncher? Martin got a $8.5 million payday and quit as soon as he could so he could get a head start at spending his money. Martin is also always out of shape. Breazeale can punch, but is also a fat slob. He has as much a chance at beating Wilder as Stiverne did in the second fight. He also got dropped by Mansour, who was over 40 at the time. Whyte before the Joshua fight beat who and did what again??? Even since the Joshua fight he went the distance with a very green David Allen and a shot Chisora. He did manage a knockout over Browne, but Browne also hadn't fought in almost a year and was 38. Stiverne in early 2015 was coming off a huge knockout win over Arreola and was ranked #6 in the world. Duhaupas was coming in with a win over charr, who had fought Vitali and Povetkin in the past. Duhaupas was also more proven than everyone on the list except Parker both before and after his fight with Wilder. He managed to knockout Helenius, who Whyte got a lukewarm decision over. Szpilka a tricky southpaw that had wins over Mike Mollo and Adamek. At the time he was more proven than Whyte or Breazeale and had fought better competition. Washington had a win over Eddie Chambers and a draw against Mansour, but managed not to get knocked down like punching bag Breazeale. Luis Ortiz was ranked # 5 in the World when Wlder beat him and destroyed Jennings, who stopped Szpilka and easily beat Mike Perez.
