If he beats shumenov April 19th in a LHW unification bout, he will become:

    1) oldest fighter to defend a title
    2) oldest fighter to win a title
    3) oldest fighter to unify titles

He is breaking his own records.

And he's doing it all in his second weight class having dominated middleweight already.

How historically significant is this fight within history given Hopkins is rewriting the history book every time he steps in the ring?

And if he subsequently beats lineal champ Stevenson, what does that to his ATG ranking?

Given that he already holds all those records and is facing a relatively weak opponent, I'd say not very significant.

BTW, I doubt he beats Stevenson.

Each win or close fight at this age at world level is amazing, I think he makes it tough for the next older champion to beat his record. History will note his records but for me Hopkins was 90s to 2005, he was handful for anyone including peak RJJ.

Let's just say that it will be a long time until anyone else breaks either record.
BHOP is firmly planted into the pages of boxing history in several catagories.
