after rewatching the calzaghe-kessler fight where joe backed kessler up and was starting to get to him, he landed a big body shot that looked like it really hurt kessler but the ref jumped in to warn joe for rabbit punching.... if the ref wouldnt have stopped and warned joe , would kessler have gone down?

Kessler admitted after the fight that he was hurt by Joe's bodyshot. But I don't think Calzaghe would stop him.

Kessler did seem pretty hurt but there was not much time left in the round, I think he could have held on. Calzaghe doesn't hit hard enough to stop Mikkel the dude is an animal.

Kessler was asked after the fight by that dork Kellerman if he would take a knee if the referee wouldn't step in and he just smiled and said he would never do that.

I think Kessler's fighting instincts would take over and he would try to fight back rather than take a knee.

Yeah, we wouldn't be talking here about it if that referee didn't stop the action.

I tihnk there was a good chance that Kessler would have been KD. He admitted that it hurt him and Calzaghe was throwing non stop punches.

It was a good shot, I feel that Kessler would have received a pasting along the ropes, but he'd see out the fight.

He might have gotten beat up a lil' instead of just outscored though.

hell yeah j.c. has power, but some moron j.c. doubters think for some reason just because he hits fast he cant contain power in his punches. This fight was awesome, love watching it time and again. Was there in person on the night and the atmosphere was electric inside that stadium. I think if Joe had landed another in the same area, even tho kess is a tank and has never been down, he may have just had to take a knee. Classic fight tho and i hope kess comes back stronger in 08 and take over 168 like i think he should.

Kessler himself said that he didn't even think of taking a knee I think he was hurt but it wasn't more of a factor than that.

Calzaghe has underrated power, Kessler admitted that the body shot hurt him and if it wasn't for the ref I'm convinced he would have took a knee despite what he said in the post-fight interview.
