o Just signed up to eastside boxing and i noticed there are many beginners out there looking to lose weight and get their fitness up. I thought my first post should be about my come back to boxing and how I managed to lose 10 kg's and get fit enough to spar 3-6 rounds at training. Firstly i have boxed since I was nine years old, now 27, I came runner up in western Australian Junior titles when i was 17 and trained at a state level for two years. Due to three injuries and two operations, Shoulder and three factures in my face. i took four years off and put on 20kg's. For me the reason i wanted to get back into the ring is i like the lifestyle of boxing. its one full of dedication and discipline that requires focus. i also want to get first place in titles. So knowing what it takes to fight at any level I set myself a goal of nine months to prepare for my come back fight. firstly I new I had to change my lifestyle, eating crap, drinking and smoking. you will find in my training plan that i never rush into anything and i slowly ease into the plan. i did this so i don't set myself up to fail, i find if you go full on into a training plan once you stop seeing results after the first four weeks you lose motivation. First Month I spent the first month with a personal trainer, there are two reasons for this. one I tend to need someone to push me until i get into a pattern and two i had just finished rehab on my shoulder and needed to build strength without causing damage. i focused on core strength and cardio working in three minute rounds 3 MIN on a bike, 30 secs full pace, 30 drop it down to half pace and repeat 3 mins, Heavy bag work, 30 secs full pace, 30 drop it down to half pace and repeat 3 mins, Row machine, 30 secs full pace, 30 drop it down to half pace and repeat 3 min, push ups, box squats, Chin ups and ab work repeat three times Then full shoulder and arm workout to rebuild strength. 3 sets (depending on where you need work you can adjust the workout, i am not a PT so don't know what the exercises are called. in the first month i also ran 3km's three times a week, which doesn't seem like much but i felt it. it's also to point out that diet not dieting helped me greatly. i cut out all sugar and processed drinks (not alcohol though) and cut the amount of carbs in my diet and replaced it with more veggies and fruit. i wasn't too concerned with eating right as i had just started training and didn't want to overdo it. Second month i added in Boxing training. i joined a local club and just trained three days a week, plus increased my running to 7km's three days a week. i stopped going to the gym as i wasn't able to due to the amount of hours was employed to work so focused on getting fit and back into training. this is where the motivation kicked in being back in the gym was great. Thrid month I started training with the fighters at the gym which was a step up from the general class, i trained at the gym four days a week. Monday Fitness and Skill work Tuesday circuit training Wednesday Skill and Sparring Friday Skill I also added three to five sessions of weights into the week focusing one session on arms, shoulders and chest. i also kept running three days a week and focused more on eating right and drinking more water. i am know down to 87kg's and i am feeling fit but think i need to drop down to 78kg's as i am only 5'11. Where two from now do you guys think i should keep the same training plan as last month or should i increase, decrease or change it?
Congratulations. I think you should do exactly what you want to do. If you feel like its time to increase or mix things up then go for it, otherwise just keep going.
Cheers Bro I think more sparing would be good, first session left me with a decent black eye but kinda looked cool.
Hey man, grats on the loss. That said, be careful about losing weight too quickly. If you rush into it and lose weight too fast your body doesn't have time to adjust and your skin won't tighten up.
Its also not a forum for burned out ***gits talking about how they should have been an olympic medalist if it wasnt for the 5 years of "adrenal fatigue" but youre still here arent you?
Yet another one to add to my ignore list. :good Congrats on re-motivating yourself bro, I enjoyed reading that. I'd say just keep on doing what you're doing, cos it's obviously working!
Well if you actully read my post you notice it's about alot more then losing weight, it's my training plan to get back into the ring and at no point in my life would i call myself obese, but don't know why i am even bothering to communicate with you.
