I have heard so many references lately made by Floyd Mayweather to Manny being knocked out twice early in his career.

How relevant do you think this information is to us as boxing fans when considering how much he has achieved since then?

My personal opinion is that the part of a fighters career that is mostly remembered is towards the end of ones career because earlier fights tend to be the learning fights where you are learning to master your art.

Why is Mayweather referring to this information all the time but yet, he will probably still end up fighting him and on the flip side Mosley has never been stopped but he never talks about that.

Hes just yapping, thats all. and hes mind though, if Pacquiao was KO before then hes thinking he can KO Pacquiao. that also means Mayweather might be agressive if they fought, damn this fight needs to happen. oct 17 is gonna be a great day for boxing...

The truly ridicuouls part to me is that Floyd brings it up in the context of who is the p4p #1 which by its very nature relies MOST HEAVILY on recent accomplishments.

Recently, Manny has 2 big wins, Floyd has been "retired". Hence, the requirement for a smokescreen based on years-old events.

Not important at all. Its just talk. What is important is how often JMM was able to counter Pacman and he actually hurt him a couple times....Floyd will find the mark too.

i dont know why floyd is bring up the early fights when he himself lost 4-6 times during his amature career and was laid out a few times with head gear on. pac turned pro early so any loss counts while floyd had a amatuar career where his losses wouldnt have counted once he turned pro. the funny thing was that both these guys were at the same age and weight level when they received their respective losses

you know the chin never changes but a guy can improve defensively. Those knockouts do not mean that much, but they do just a little possibly. A guy like Hagler never was knocked out early or late in his career. Mayweather is trying to make Pacman think about it and he plans on hitting him, and with his speed he could. I think Mayweather could beat Pacman, but the thing that Mayweather has to do is sign to fight him, and he seems to be afraid of a challenge. Too bad. I think he has good boxing skills. Both of them do. If Mayweather avoids that fight he is doing boxing a disservice by not giving the boxing fans such a good fight.

HYPE and positioning for a better negotiating chip . . . He (PBF) is undefeated while Pac has been KOed before . . . therefore despite Pac being the present #1 rated fighter . . .he PBF deserves the higher cut. :yep

    :rofl  :rofl

It means something to Floyd when he talks about it. I believe his intention. This is a concept filtered directly through the mind of his perception. He has never lost, certainly never by KO where he is concerned, and never would under any circumstances in his mind. He can use that as positive pressure for himself, or it can be negative karma. Whatever he believes. I know Floyd chooses his words at times so he may be a tad superstitious.

    In actuality they mean nothing.

If anyone thinks that Floyd is just talking, he aint. Floyd truly believes fighters that have been hurt, lost or KO'd are inferior to him. You can see it when he talked about Hatton, Gatti, Baldomir, Judah ect. However against Oscar he really didnt criticize Oscars boxing ability. If he brings up the fact Manny has been KO'd he thinks he can get KO'd again.

I can't blame Floyd for doing that. His long inactivity might had affected his self confidence considering that Pac seemed so formidable in his recent fights and especially so since Pac did better than him vs ODLH and Hatton. Maybe he is conditioning his mind that Manny had been beaten before and it is his way of convincing himself that he can't beat Manny.
