I know, but still - he's fighting within WW limit. Now tell me, how did Pac manage to get a shot at a WW title? Like I said, you have no answer and it just shows that Cotto can do the same thing. Nowadays titles are overrated and we've got so many goddamn belts it's fkn stupid.

Because he's been an elite fighter.

Question could go as ar as how diud Foreman get a shot at the title when he didn't win his title eliminator?

That's a big difference. Cotto's going up and coming off a destructive loss one weight south. Pac had just demolished the 140lb kingpin and took that crown in going up.

You just said it - 140lb king. Like another poster said earlier - what happened to rankings and working your way up? Pac beats the guy at 140lb and right away gets to face the #1 or #2 WW in the world?

Sure he beat him but still lol...

Elite as defined as what? Margarito fight doesnt count. But he lost a close fight with Shane...and then looked decent against Gomez, Jennings, Clottey...Fighting people who weigh up to 147 doesnt make you an elite WW. And now that I think of it. His WW resume isnt all that. Remove AM and you have two questionable decisions against Clottey and SSM.

    Here they come :)fire)

Elite as defined by my standards and probbaly other peole aswell.

He beats evryody put in front of him at 140 and 147 till Margarito who probbaly cheated and they weren't cupcakes either.
    He has wins over Torres,Judah,Mosley,Quintana,Malignaggi,Clottey,Sosa,Urkal,Abdullaev,etc.
He was constantly in the top 10 p4p.That to me is elite.

oK...tORRES almost starched him, Juday was done, quintana almost starched him, Paulie fought with a broken orbital bone and still finished the fight, Clottey WON, the last three were tune ups....His campaign at 140 was decent. Not elite.

Please....I could trash resumes like that aswell. So what does that mean?

He is getting the shot because he was a very good elite level fighter.

    To take this thread seriously...

#1 They are both Arum fighters.
#2 Foreman wanted a big name for his first defense to make his name.
#3 Like a Gatti or a Hatton, Cotto has a hell of a fanbase and could sell out MSG for even if he lost every fight he had for the next two years.

2 things one he has fought one catchweight fight and there is no real reason to believe Clottey will be at a catchweight so allling hime a catchweight king is ridiculous. Second his fight against DLH was at WW. Now one can argue he hasn't fought a WW at the WW limit, but one thats not what you said and two he has only fought one WW so give him some time.

Oh and anyone bringing up the crap about him draining DLH has to realise DLH selected that weight not Pac. And secondly that was the only weight that really made sense I mean Pac couldn't exactly easily if at all move up to 154.
