Sprott schooled him, needed a dodgy referee and judges to get the win. Yet, Audley KO12 Sprott. Then Dimitrenko had the nerve to attack Audley for ducking him for a world title shot. Audley was more deserving of his shot than Dimitrenko will ever be. :deal
He beat top 20-50 boxers recently (Quendo, Maddalone, Botha, Nielsen etc.) and lost only to top5 at the time (Valuev, Ibragimov) and his fights were pretty close ... so thats are his real abilities, pretty high activity and then his high rank. It mean there is no more than 17 other boxers who are more active and successful :deal What you are considering is that he is: VERY old, delusional and most obviously should retire ... all true but VERY PERSONAL view. You think in terms of RIng status, as Holy is totaly irrelevant as the champion, but his Boxrec status just confirms he is still close to be relevant as a low level ranking contender ... rightfully outside top 10 but he still could give some fit to other top 20 boxers ... which is true.
Nielsen isn't even close to being a top 50 boxer, he was coming off a 9 year layoff :rofl While the Oquendo and Maddalone wins came in 2006 and 2007, hardly recent. Boxrec is flawed, it's too harsh on decent fighters who accumulate narrow losses against good fighters (e.g. Sprott), and too lenient on inactive fighters like Holyfield, Tony Thompson etc.
Anyone who is troubled by Holyfield these days doesn't belong on any top 20 list even in this shitty HW division - and if they're on one, then it just means the person(s) who made the list ****ed up. FFS, Holyfield was outfought and almost stopped by Sherman Williams. As for Oquendo/Maddalone/Botha/Nielsen being top 50 at the time...Fres, OK. Where were the other three ranked in a top fifty at the time they met Holy? Other than by the WBF?
He should be ranked somewhere between 10th and 15th at best. Can't see him winning any decent fight in the future either.
WBF didnt sanction Nielsen-Holyfield. Offcially because they didnt see Nielsen as an acceptable opponent (Most likely the reason was that Sauerland didnt pay sanctioning fees cause they dont give a **** about WBF) Especially when you consider that WBF once had a 0-2 guy fighting for one of their titles :rofl
I mentioned them because Holyfield vs. Botha was for the vacant WBF title. So Franny can at least claim to have been "world ranked" by at least one numbskull org at the time. As for Maddalone and especially Nielsen...:nut Those guys shouldn't have been in a top 150 when Holyfield cherry picked them.
Dimitrenko is the face of Euro boxing followed by that bum Boytsov. I'd rather have 20 more years of Vitali than one day with Dimitrenko as a champion. He has no skill at all.
case in point: bhop at #5 p4p as for my contribution to the thread, dimitrenko is ****. if you need the ref's help to beat a shot michael sprott, you have no business in the top 20, let alone the top 5!!!
Dimitrenko was the Wlad nuthuggers next hope to be honest. Dimitrenko was the guy that would take Wlad's place once he is gone. Chambers messed that up for them and the jumped ship. Dimitrenko has a weak chin just like Wlad. I told the nuthuggers that but they just made excuses for him. Dimitrenko is pure **** and even Tye Fields can beat him.
