Just ask why Pac and Roach have so many catchweight fights. It makes a difference.

Explain why Pacquiao would be drained by weighing in at 140?

Wanting Marquez to bloat up to 147 for this fight is a straight up ***** move from Freddy Roach. Hell, I'm sure Manny could still do 135 which is the heavier Marquez can be at and still be himself. Pac has to eat like a pig to get to 145-148 so assuming he eats normally he might be around 140 which would allow him to drop to 135 after dehydration. But anyway, 140 is a fair compromise

So you're saying that the 144lb or thereabouts Marquez that you saw in the ring against Mayweather looked slower to you than the 144lb Marquez you saw in the ring against Katsidis, but it was nothing to do with the opponent?

The explanation is not too simple, you're just too busy trying to fit it to your agenda to be able to see an obvious fact.

He's only fought at that weight once. He's fought at 135, what, 4 times?

Forget about the actual Mayweather fight. Just in training clips you could see Marquez, not known for quickness as much as timing, look much slower than usual.

People just seem to ignore the fact that when you knock someone down and win a round it is 10-8 but that only happens when Manny fights JMM.
It is a big ****in deal and the man lost 2x at his best weight. Let him come to Manny's best weight and get KTFO and he can get better tshirts for the 4th fight when he is 0-3.

A 147 lb limit is to say 'come in at whatever weight your comfortable at and I'll do the same.'

Again, people comfusing weigh-in weights with the actual weight of boxers. Marquez was well over 135lbs on Saturday and looked fine to me.

The only reason that fighting at 147lbs might be a disadvantage to him is if he were fighting a natural 147lb fighter (ie someone who actually would be coming to the ring at 160lbs). If he's fighting someone who has to 'eat like a pig' to reach 147lbs, then there's no disadvantage at all. I don't understand how people don't grasp this. If both fighters are just going to weigh in at their fighting weight instead of dehydrating to a lower weight, that does not constitute 'bloating up' and cannot possibly disadvatage anyone. How could it?

    Why?

He was the same weight for the Mayweather fight as for the Katsidis fight.

If he was slower, then it was nothing to do with his bodyweight.

I think Pac vs JMM at 140 is fair.

If Pacquiao isn't going to be drained at 140 then it doesn't 'make a difference' at all though.

I'm not a doctor. If you're looking for a reason I can't give it to you. I just know when I watched his training clips he looked painfully slow.

I'm not saying a match at 147 is bad, they both might show up at 142-144, it's not an optimum weight for Marquez, but I just want the fight made since the fight with Floyd isn't happening again. I'd rather see Pac vs heavier Marquez than Pac vs Mosley/Berto

That Pac 140-Hatton fight version would retire JMM for good.
