could someone please explain what particular things a judge scores in a fight? do they get one point each time a punch, knee, or kick connects? with takedowns too? with the jackson vs machida fight a while back, i was surprised that jackson was given the decision. one of the commentators mentioned that the judges would of been swayed in jackson's favour because he kept going forward? he said that because machida's style was more of a counter-puncher, the judges wouldn't of appreciated his particular style. personally, if that is true then the judging system needs a big shake-up. i see nothing wrong with a fighter waiting for the other guy to strike first, and then hitting back. i thought machida was doing the right thing at the time, however the judges maybe didn't think so?
