Golota is an aquired taste. That's the best way to put it. Punisher is right, if Golota fights Peter, that will be a great showdown.
I'm not really a fan of Golota, but I'm always excited to see him fight. He was an entertaining enigma of a fighter. Some nights he'd look like the next great Heavyweight, others he'd implode (twice he beat Riddick Bowe senseless in thrillers, twice he quits by hitting him low repeatedly). Rarely a boring moment with this character, though: his fights with Bowe, Brewster, Tyson, hell, he even made Ruiz and Byrd fight's worth watching.:yep
Golota is the type of guy you'd call an enigma. He's not dull. You'd kind of feel sorry for him. He just hasn't helped himself in the ring, he had the beating of Bowe twice and then throws both victories away, causing a massive riot after the first one! Lewis blows him away in 74 seconds or whatever, then he walks from the ring after two rounds with Tyson. I read he was arrested for impersonating a police officer as well! He's had more opportunities than Soft Mick and taken none of them. Any news on what's happening with him next?
He will probably step in to take on Peter if Vitali backs out in September, I also heard something about a Ruiz rematch, either way he's definitely a drawing card, and is now set for the big fights in the division.
Golota is a very interesting dude, an oddball:roll: , had awesome talent back in the mid to late 90's but i jumped off his bandwagon after he was Ko'd against Lewis and quit against Tyson:-( that was B.S he should have never pissed away that fight with Tysonatsch at 40 he's near the end, and will be KNOCKED OUT if he fight's Peter..
King is supposed to be setting up Peter/ Golota, possibly, for July, or thereabouts, with the winner facing Vitali Klitschko in the late fall.
Thanks for the update Heavy, I heard that as well, but I also heard something about Golota stepping in for Vitali if he chooses to cancel out. I would like to see Peter/Golota, it should be exciting.
I never really got it either..... No disrespect or anything but it seems like he is idolized around here.
In fairness, Golota was smart to not continue his fight with Tyson. He had a concussion, fractured cheekbone and herniated disk in his neck caused by tyson's fists and forehead.
