I like both these guys and iirc they both want it to happen. I agree with CST that Bivol would be stupid to risk a Canelo rematch and the mega money it brings by fighting Artur first. Let's not forget that boxing is a business and these guys need to make all the $$$ they can while they can. Neither of these guys are duckers. It will happen.

What about the referee in the Yarde fight?

You know, the one who let Yarde spit his dummy out twice, let him pull up his trunks randomly to catch a breather and gave Yarde an 18 second count.....

BTW I don't blame Bivol at all. He has to go get that money bag from a Canelo rematch. If he does it at 168lbs and wins and THEN goes to 175lbs and loses (most likely scenario imo) he is still a big PPV attraction at 168lbs and we'll probably get a 3rd Canelo fight.

Hence why Bivol is pushing for the Canelo rematch at 168lbs. There's a lot more Mexicans to feast on down there and get more PPV money.

Maybe if Bivol’s promoter wasn’t pushing for one his fighters to have a mandatory shot against Beterbiev further delaying the fight then maybe they would have fought.. Beterbievs promoter also lined to fight Yarde as a favor to Frank Warren for allowing him to be Tyson Fury’s American promoter..

Wanting to go down to 168 to chase Canelo does seem duckish.
Beterbiev likely KO's him and Bivol probably knows there's a good chance of that.

Canelo and Bivol weighed near enough the same fight night. Bivol is a 168lber, Beterbiev is a huge 175lber - I'm not surprised Bivol is ducking

I don't think Bivol or his team is avoiding anyone. They want the maximum payday, that's all.

Career is fast and short. Both Bivol and Beterbiev wants to fight Western fighters to get biggest paychecks. Bivol vs Beterbiev won't generate much revenue, because they are both from Russia, from the East.

Clenelo and his shitty team handpicked Bivol thinking he was the easiest at that weight and an easy way to "win" another belt at a higher weight. It backfired and Clenelo and his shitty team got egg on their face. I love it. I also loved watching the mediocre, red-headed clown get smacked around the ring.

That's the magic of fighting Canelo. Now everything has to be put on hold so Canelo can.have his little rematch. By then it will already have been like 2 years. Beterbiev will be like 40.
But what do you want Bivol to do? Put his million dollar rematch in jeopardy to fight Beterbiev on Fox Sports 1 for $50???

I honestly put some of the blame on Beterbiev. He only fights like every 18 months, he does nothing to market himself....he could even play the heel and come out in support of his people and the war against Ukraine, but he does none of that. Even Kovalev was at least out there poking the bear and getting himself fights with Ward and B Hop and was trying to get Adonis in the ring.

Seems like Beterbiev just sits around and waits for everything to happen to him

Beterbiev vs Bivol happens in the Middle East.

Beterbiev vs Callum Smith hopefully happens in Abu Dhabi so wet the Arabs' appetite and pay maximum money for maximum violence [hopefully December 2023]

Arabs become sponsor fights which draw great audience and generate big revenue, so that they make profit from the event.

They didn't pay for Usyk vs Fury because neither of them are as popular as AJ.

The fight will happen in due time. If it doesn't happen by early 2024, then it's a duck by either one. But let's be real, boxers are in it for the money and are risking their health in the process, if you're in a position to land the biggest money fight there is, why would you throw it away ?

Look at Gvozdyk, he did exactly what people want fighters to do. He knocked Stevenson, won the belt, had a stay busy fight and went straight to Beterbiev. That ended badly for him.

They realised Fury was a time wasting joke

Beterbiev is a Muslim and has a growing presence and fanbase. Even Joe Rogan is talking about him.
