Golovkin never does well against guys who don't fear him. That's why Rosado was never going to get KO'd, the ref stopped it because of the blood.

It would be suicide for Canelo to try to box on the outside and bide his time while looking for openings. He needs to stay closer, counter, throw fast combos when GGG isn't set, and angle away. And use that new strength to force GGG back and hold his ground. Try to follow a Brook game plan, but do it more with his countering style, because he doesn't have the legs to hit and move, and use enough of an attack to keep GGG from controlling the action.

I don't see this happening though. GGG likely forces him to fight at greater distance, and doesn't give Canelo a chance to counter. On the outside GGG dominates. Canelo may have the better defence but that doesn't make him the more adept 'boxer'. And if GGG boxes on the outside it only takes a few rounds for him to badly punish Canelo.

 

I see this too, I mean TBH GGG using his size and trying to bully Canelo is the gameplan I see working worse for him. Canelo is good and fast on the inside and counters well in there. If he stuck behind his jab and made Canelo come forward I feel he'd pick Canelo apart all night.

 

One interesting thing is we have never seen someone completely target ggg's body and canelo ain't afraid to throw body shots, that and clinching and spoiling I believe it could be a good tactic.

He doesnt need to try and outbox him. Needs to cover up and limit ggg the best he can giving as little away as possible. Whilst concentrating on the body. Slowly sneak himself into the fight. Then slowly start trying to push him back as the fight goes on.

Thats the key to victory for me. But cant see him pulling it off. Golovkin doesnt give you room to breath when he gets going. Canelo,s stamina wont be able to effectively keep the pace. It then all comes down to walking ggg into something big. Possibility. Reckon ggg,s gonna be more careful than he has been recently tho.

To outbox ggg you ve got to be a mover. Or have very good footwork. Less likely you,ll match his output. Canelo doesnt have either and wont match his output. The best way for his attributes is to either counterpunch him try to walk him onto something big...or cover up diffuse ggg,s offence...whilst slowly working his way into the fight and outlasting him. Canelo,s a strong boy. Cant see him folding in there. Unless the stamina goes. A lot of guys cant physically compete with golovkin...strength wise. Dont think canelo will have that problem.

 

Canelo needs to stay close and busy. If he's at the end of GGG's punches, he's done. GGG does not like to punch when someone is punching, he seems to turtle up instead and wait until the flurry is done. Canelo will have to get in there, work the body and keep moving to force GGG to reset.

But you never know for certain what a fighter will do, this is boxing after all.

 

Usually in boxing fights tends to be black and white, we go by previous info to predict how a fight is most likely to go and that helps a lot when 2 fighters are of differing levels. When 2 top tier guys fight each other a lot of the tools that helped them to win in previous fights are negated due the skill level of the opponent in front of them on another day.

What if Canelo has decided the best way to beat GGG is to stand right in front of him? what if GGG decides to use his jab more and try to showcase his own boxing? that's to me is why this fight is intriguing because if both guys are really the real deal then it really is a guessing game.

 

Rosado was constantly moving, Canelo from the waist down is **** ! Plus from 33:00 on, all I seen was Rosado getting busted up too

 

The thing is, the way Canelo usually beats opponents will not work.
It's foolhardy to fight a naturally bigger, monster boxer puncher how
Canelo does. Canelo has excellent upper body movement but opponents
shots still sometimes get through, Canelo is just big enough that he can
absorb what gets through. He's an excellent counter puncher and combination
puncher but to do that, he stands his ground in front of opponents and again
against a much bigger opponent that hits like Golovkin, that's not smart.

I don't really have a horse in the game but I've always said unless you're bigger
than Golovkin, to beat him you have to do so on the move and throw combination.
Canelo has not shown that ability (to utilize excellent footwork and play keepaway).
I think Canelo probably does have decent footwork judging by his upper body
movement but this is countered by the fact that Golovkin, while slow, is still
great at cutting the ring off. Canelo has to fight a near perfect fight (stylistically)
to win, Golovkin can (and likely will) make mistakes but has a larger margin for error.
I am interested in how Golovkin will take body shots and combinations from Canelo.
quite a few questions will be answered regarding the mettle of both on Saturday.

 

Murray was targeting GGG's body and was landing until GGG adjusted by crouching lower. I've actually heard Sanchez say that if any fighter gets hit with bodyshots it's his own fault.

 

he won't move back that much in this fight, but Canelo can slip punches and the thing is to win he has to hit GGG hard and hurt him to keep him from walking right in.. That is a must. Is Canelo cannot hurt GGG at all, the fight is GGG's fight. My guess is we will see GGG rocked in the first or second round if Canelo wins, and that will keep GGG respectful and then Canelo can outbox him.
