How is Cotto going to avoid the best 1-2 combination in the business?

seeing how clottey landed his 1-2 combos on cotto easily, this pacquiao match would be very messy for miguel cotto

He probably won't, but if he can take it, Pacquiao might find himself in trouble. Although i think Pacquiao has the power at the weight to earn the respect of all but the toughest welters.

Cotto keeps his right hand high, and his left is often probing and dropping, as it is active.

He'll block the left hand easier than you think. Right hands are worse for his defensive style.

If Manny can get his ever improving hook in on Cotto, he wins. If he can't, and doesn't find a way to land the left hand, something he is very good at doing, Cotto is going to spank him with his brutal, two fisted attack.

    I love 50/50 fights.

i c this fight loke this... remember margarito vs cotto? margarito was always the agresor landing bombs to the body and head walking tru the cottos ofensive w no effect ,and cotto was the lil man trwing combos and boxing? it will be the same but this time cotto will be the big man but he have speed, underrated power,a lot of skills, and pacman will be the lil man w decent power and a lot of speed, but no defense...cotto by tko submission in the championship rounds....

Keeping your right hand up isn't the way to stop Pac's left, as he throws it straight down the middle, often while moving to his opponents left.

This is the main concern i feel for Cotto. Everybody knows that his stance makes him vulnerable to punches down the middle, and Pac's best punch will always be that super-straight left hand. Cotto's almost guaranteed to get caught with that, i don't feel like that's very much open to question. The question is in how well he can take it and how often he can get his own best punches in to keep Pacquiao from throwing that left.

I think if Cotto can handle shots from Clottey, Mosley and even plaster hands without going down (he took a knee against plaster hands), what makes you think Pac can out him down. Cotto always finds a way to win even if he takes punishment doing so. I dont think Pac's power will bother Cotto as much as Cotto's power will bother Pac. Cotto is a veryyyy powerful welter fighting a very powerful LW/JWW. If you're gonna talk about power being a factor in this match then at least talk about Cotto's power

You know Marquez is not a defensive wizard and he found a way. He ether turned his glove to the center, dodge it or ducked it as he did often in the last round of there second fight. There are ways. But theirs no doubt he will be caught. He just has prepare himself to go through fire and not get burned to beat the pound for pound best.

He's an awesome defensive technician! He's gotten older is all, but he knows that while his reflexes aren't what they were, he uses movement and angles to make it difficult for Pac to land.

I think Cotto will shift stances to keep Manny's control of the distance mixed up. He'll use his own footwork to give Manny some angles too.

He will have to use his Straight right hand. As many know its the greatest weapon against the Southpaw. He also must utilize his jab. Morales was able to control Manny when he liberally use his jab in the first fight and half of the second fight.
