Cotto can't take what he dishes out and GGG can. That is why I am picking Canelo to beat Cotto. Canelo has the better beard. It's that damn simple.

    Don't you think things through?

With Roach he has regained his confidence pre margarita and is sitting on his punches while employing a focussed body attack.

All of a sudden he's on the juice?
    Get a life!!!

Yeah, it happens. Age related deterioration doesnt typically occur until 40's or 50's

Physical lifestyle and such can keep your hormones up easily into 30's and even into 40's

Capacity for building strength and mass through exercise is maintainable even until 60's

Its well known that in aging fighters, power is pretty much always the last thing to go.

Believe me, I think things through. I have been accused of OVERthinking. Like I said, I am willing to accept that Roach has aided in his rejuvenation to a degree in regards to bringing back the Cotto of old. However, even the Cotto of old who was sitting down on his punches and going to the body wasn't generating THIS much power. He was hitting hard, but not this damn hard and against opponents THIS damn big.

Miguel Cotto has always hit hard as ****. The problem with Cotto at 147lbs was the speed of his opponents catching him off guard. Opponents at or around 160 move at the perfect speed for him to set up his power. He gets to fight more flat footed because the game has slowed down for him, which creates more opportunities to land harder punches. At 140lbs, Cotto put lots of guys out nasty style, because he himself was lighter, faster, and could generate the power - being the bigger man. Right now, his really landing clean.

i'd say its mostly to do with the speed catching them off guard. they are unable to adjust to his speed and just end up getting caught by punches they were not prepared for.

Cotto speed is good at 160, especially vs someone who left a piece of themselves on the scales.

But yeah, this is probably the most important point - catching them off guard. Personally though its known he hits hard, I think GGG's power is overrated.

Look at the vast majority of his stoppages and KDs - they come from him setting up a punch the opponent doesnt see coming.

    - A fully leveraged body shot not seen because short uppercuts had opponents arms covering face - Macklin

    - A feint and uppercut under the lead arm of opponent not seen due to misdirection and shot originating from angle obstructed by opponents own lead arm. - Rubio and Monroe

    - Murray thinking he is at range to escape when he isnt, getting caught with huge bodyshot unprepared sending him down

    - etc etc etc

Any fighter with respectable power is going to do damage when they can land it both leveraged and unseen/unexpected.

Golovkin's power is underrated. Cotto can't punch nearly as hard as Golovkin.................that's one good reason Cotto refused to fight Golovkin who is his mandatory. Cotto will have to pay Golovkin step aside money to fight Alvarez, not so sure Cotto will get by Alvarez, but Golovkin will knock out either one......................Roach does not want Cotto anywhere near Golovkin, Cotto will give up the title rather than fight Golovkin. You could hear Golovkin's punches land.................Golovkin did not require Geale to come in at 157 to make him weak, but Cotto did...............Golovkin knocked Geale out at 160 lbs., that should tell up something................

I think GGG gets sufficient credit for his power. He is a clubbing puncher ala Foreman. He doesn't knock anyone out cold, but he sends the toughest of men to the canvas and makes them quit. Getting him by guys like GGG, Foreman, etc. is like getting hit with a bat. Every punch hurts badly. Getting hit by a guy like Tyson, Hearns or Julian Jackson (punchers with speed to boot) is like getting shot. That's the difference between a clubbing puncher and a brutal knockout artist.
