Haven't heard anything. He sparred with both Louis and Walcott and when asked who was going to win when they fought, Sheppard said without hesitation "Walcott".

Both Charles and Walcott said he was the hardest puncher they ever met, Elmer Ray being second (very underrated fighter who got shafted) and Marciano third.

Also heard he KO'd someone by punching them on the top of the head, something that is incredibly hard to do.

Yeah he thought very highly of Walcott said he hit like a mule and was a genius of drawing people in, i still believe Walcott won that first fight with Louis though

He is definitely the Earnie Shavers figure of that era.

Did he fight Charles? I'm almost positive he didn't.

I'd love to find a source for Walcott saying that. So if you run across one please let me know. That's telling stuff.

**** you're right they didn't fight, it was Moore and Walcott who called Curtis the hardest puncher they had ever met.

I can't find the quote atm, need to look up where I found it but I do remember someone saying that in terms of hardest punchers they had faced it was Sheppard, then Ray and then Marciano, given Moore didn't fight Ray it would've had to have been Walcott who said this. Walcott fought Sheppard once but he was also his chief sparring partner, he fought Ray 3 times and Rocky twice so he'd have fair knowledge on who hit him the hardest.

Like you said telling stuff when you think about it because Walcott fought basically all the punchers of the era Louis, Marciano, Ray, Sheppard, Lorenzo Pack, Tommy Gomez and Rex Layne.
