This was judahs 9th fight i think or something like that [yt]ukjNF1XGv50[/yt] Gamboa isnt faster or more powerful then zab judah was.... so why do people say hes the best talent in the last 20 years? zab was JUST as talented if not moreso then gamboa is... both have every physical gift god/nature can give....
Kirk, you're a cool dude and I liked your messages regarding Zelenoff and wish you all the best with your boxing. But seriously, isn't the Gamboa stuff overdone right about now? I understand you're sick of the over-hyping going on with Gamboa but I think there are enough threads with which to state this type of point, no?
Judah was talented. Physically he was a marvel. I think Gamboa is moving up faster in the eyes of fans because his level of competition is higher than that of Judah at the time. Also, it's relative to the other prospects at the time. Judah was coming up the same time as Mayweather, Reid, Vargas etc. Big name American talent. He also didn't have the gold medal background, and you know the hype they get. Just some thoughts there.
Well im looking at it like this in Gamboas 10th pro fight he easily beat a amateur stud and solid pro in Jimenz who had a nice win in his last bout easily destroying former WBO Champ ******* Anchodo. Judahs 1st 16 fights where agianst the very bottom of the barrell it wasnt until he fought Micky Ward when he had fought somebody decent and Ward really is nothing more then a very exicting club fighter. Jimenez is alot more talented and skilled then Micky Ward.
You make a good point Kirk, one I have made before though also. Guys like Mosley, Judah even guys like Dirrell looked phenomanel in their first fights. Big punchers will always look more impressive. Kostya Tszyu looked fantastic, and was fighting harder opposition earlier in his career also.
Zab Judah today is one of the only fighters i dont get... He has all the tools to be the most affective fighters of our time.. More then mayrunner.. Fastest hands relexs with good power.. His biggest flaw is he is a front runner starts out fast and after the 4th round his skills diminsh very fast and mentally he is not tough dont take much to get in his head.. Gamboa is alot similar but seems to have the power to keep fighters off of him. But definatly a fighter that can win rounds on points but i dont see him with alot of KO's once he gets to top compition.
Gamboa will get more KO's if he learns to be a patient counter puncher with the ability to attack when his opponent is tentative.
