He was an aggressive fighter and a brawler type but he was skilled also. It doesn't matter if you're skilled, slick, a brawler, aggressive or defensive when it comes to greatness. It's all down to what you do and achieve as a fighter. compairing guys' records nowadays to old time records is foolish,u can only compair old records with old records,Boxingtoday is to different then back then. The most misleading subject is to attempt to insinuate that Armstrong defended the Featherweight, Lightweight, and Welterweight title at the same time. Some American sportscasters even give the impression that Armstrong held all three titles at the same time when he fought for the Middleweight title.

I agree with you, but Floyd is a shitty comparison since Floyd started his career lower than Ray and is naturally smaller.

    False.

Also false. You just haven't seen the right footage.

15 of Robinson's 19 losses came past the age of 35 (10 past the age of 40). I wouldn't really hold that against him.

There's a current pro that started at light flyweight and is currently beating up welters and light middleweights much like SRR and picked up 4 titles from 4 of the original weight divisions along the way.

He did the impossible too. You paid tribute to him by putting him on your avatar like a true boxing fan.

What does any of this have to do with anything?

He moved through the divisions, and did so in a 3 year span. He actually moved to Welterweight after winning the Featherweight title, completely skipped Lightweight. After winning the Welterweight title he immediately challenged for the Lightweight bout, won it, then defended his Welterweight title 19 consecutive times. As mentioned previously, he would lose the Lightweight title in the extremely controversial rematch with Ambers, where Armstrong was penalised for low-blows 4 different times.

What are you talking about? Basilio moved up from welterweight to fight Robinson, it was his first fight at middleweight, and he was 5'6. Lamotta was the bigger guy than Robinson.

Robinson was almost 5'10'', and had been fighting at middleweight. How was basilio bigger? Don't give me that man.

Fight night basilio was 153, robinson 160.

Don't even compare Ray Robinson to Manny Pacquiao. That was a ****ing joke right??????? LMAO Manny Pacquiao can't even beat Mayweather let alone ray robinson. im truely convinced if they met robinson would obliverate manny pacquiao, roids or not, I think Manny might even get injured in that fight :yep

You're correct, I thought Basilio weighed in heavier for some reason. My bad.

fair enough, lamotta was the heavy one as far as I remember. I agree Robinson is awesome, I just wish there was more welterweight footage to really back it up, though the record is exceptional. Because there are guys like Chavez Sr with records like 100-5, but we know they really couldn't hold a candle to guys like Pernell Whitaker in head to heads, no matter what the judges say. I'm not saying Robinson is like that, I just wish there was more prime footage.

OK, if we're talking strictly records, Harry Greb, Willie Pep, and Benny Leonard, among others, are all greater than Robinson.

It's more than just his numerical record, it's the fighters he beat. His wins resume is unbelievably strong.

There's also more Welterweight footage of him available than most think, against Fusari, Angott, Riccio, and Flores, although none of it is in full.

Robinson has a more credible/resume then armstrong and you give him credit for. You believe armstrong is better so its pointless in arguing with you

roy jones jr. was more athletic and

floyd mayweather has an better defence and if he beats pacquiao n incredible record with no losses

and pacquiao in his prime with an opponent his size, weight, hieght and reach lookbs (p4p) looks to beat anybody infront of him ever.

so the debate if srr is the best ever or not is to be made or think about.
