Ortiz is rated #3 by the WBC. He's rated #3 by the WBA. He's rated #5 by Ring. He's rated #5 in the Transnational Boxing Rankings. He's a top contender.
it helps when you have a promoter writing big checks to rank you the dude hasn't had a win since march of 2019 and has a **** resume to boot. the dude has done nothing for those rankings.
The sanctioning bodies all have weird rankings. Boxing would be much better if there was only 1 belt per division and the best had to fight the best. UFC style.
He lost to the champ Wilder. No shame there, and compare him to who else is top-ten its slim pickens.
Hell there isn't even 1 champ with certain organization. There is regular champion, super champion, diamond, silver , eternal, etc...
Who cares? The WBC is worthless and their rankings mean nothing. Same goes for any other belt, but there's an element of blatant corruption in the WBS's rankings that puts that at an even lower rung.
Maybe Gassiev or Breidis should call him out and take the easy way to the top. Afterall, they already faced the cream of the crop at cruiserweight, right guys?
