How is Margarito the recognized welterweight champion?

    He just beat Cotto who was the #1 guy ... yet he lost to Williams who's # 2 ... so to me that doesn't register as Welterweight champion.

    I heard Max Kellerman say it and Dan Rafael ... he's not the welterweight champion ... not until he faces Williams and Clottey and not until he beats either of those guys and wins the ring magazine title.

    Comes down to resumes sinced Williams lost. It set him back. Margarito- Cotto, Cintron 2, Joshua Clottey, and he face more top ten opponents that any welterweight. Paul Williams- Margarito and Quintana. Margarito is the best and will beat Clottey to make it official.

    until he beats Williams and rematches Clottey his win over Cotto doesn't mean ****.

    Even so ... he's still not the welterweight champion unless he fights Williams and to be honest ... I really don't see Margarito getting a meaningful fight again, unless he fights Clottey ... TopRank has a riff with manager Al Haymon and will not put Margarito up against Williams again.
