I don't think its a "mismatch" as such.....floyd should come in as a heavy favorite based on the tale of the tape....but its not in the same category of an elite fighter against a journeyman....that is what I call a mismatch....

Those posters who do not see this fight a mismatch are morons.
Floyd and Juan are fighting for the money. Nothing more.

that's bull****....mayweather might be fighting for money.....but not marquez....he is getting **** for this fight compared to floyd.....marquez is fighting for legacy, pac refused a 3rd fight, so marquez goes for the next best legacy fight mayweather......valero, re-match with diaz or casa, or bradley at 140 does nothing for his legacy....hes 36 looking for a hallmark achievement in the twilight of his carear...

Maybe you weren't around for the DLH - Pacquiao fight.

Hell, 14 or 15 months ago people were getting ridiculed on this board for the suggestion that a future Hatton v Pacquiao fight would be anything other than a circus freak show walk over for Hatton.

    Same **** here.

If Mayweather wins, everyone will accept that it was a mismatch.

If Marquez wins, one faction will proclaim it the greatest acheivement in living memory while another will declare Floyd a shot to **** stumbling corpse.

Couldn't you have just read one of the billion other posts about this? The answer you're looking for is size. If Floyd wasn't such a coward he'd have fought one of the top guys in his own weight division.

isn't mayweather a super featherweight??? He does not use size to win anyways... I think Marquez will make weight just fine and actualy want him to win

Legacy, my ass! He knows deep inside that he cannot beat Floyd. He's fighting Floyd because he wants to get back on Pac who refused to give him a rematch. Fact! Floyd accepted it because it is an easy money for him or perhaps a tune up for the bigger fight w/ Pac. It6's a total mismatch.

While I believe the catchweight favours Mayweather more than Marquez, the Floyd being a coward stuff is pretty dramatic. One of the largest size disparities i can recall was Oscar-Floyd. No unofficial fight night weights were given for a reason. Oscar was at least 160, while Floyd was 148.

I have a feeling the unofficial fight night weights for PBF-JMM are gonna be pretty close. 148 to 145 in favour of PBF or something like that.

Pac is one of a kind. Marquez is a poor copycat. He can never duplicate what Pac did : jumping two divisions higher to fight Hatton/dela Hoya. If marquez wins, my props to him but I can't see him pulling a win against a bigger and stronger Floyd.

and rjj is a former 139lb golden gloves champ.

it is a mismatch in that jmm being asked to come up another 9lbs is very tough when its pbf you are fighting. it doesnt mean that jmm is going to lose just b/c its a mismatch...but the size and speed difference is going to be very very noticable. jmm is gonna have to use every bit of his ringsmanship to make it competitive.
