How is Roach still capable of training his fighters? Obviously you can see it progressively getting worse but others who have Parkinsons disease can hardly even move like Ali for example. How does he keep doing it? Is there some training he does to keep it in check or is it less severe?
Well, hes obviously extremely active which help with nearly any disease. But he is clearly deteriorating but by bit
He's very active physically, which apparently helps slow the crippling effects of the disease. Ali has had parkinson's syndrom for over 30 years and hasn't really shown major physical decline until the last 5 years or so. Keep in mind Ali is also 70, physically he was going to be declining more rapidly every year as it is.
His speech has been slowing since the late 1970s, and he pretty much stopped talking publicly in the late 90s/early 2000s.
Ali's had his for longer and was probably suffering from a more severe case of it. As bad as it may sound, Roach will eventually reach the same stage as him. As for his job of training, it actually helps him. Moving about in the gym with fighters helps prevent him from staying rigid, and protects the nerve cells that deteriorate because of the illness. This to an extent helps slow down (or mute) Parkinsons. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECkPVTZlfP8[/ame]
I see Roach has Pacquiao hit him in the head sometimes when working on tne mitts seems like that wouldn't be a smart decision
i think roach is fine physically But he is deteriorating as the years go by but been in the gym working with fighters helps him alot but am not sure how good he is mentally at this moment in time because his fighters have been on a bad run as of late so that might be effecting him.
I think it has more to do with his fighers fighting people who are poor style match ups. Most knew Martinez would box the breaks off of Chavez Jr, we all knew Khan had a very questionable chin and was facing a harder counterer in Garcia, and it's been known for years that Marquez has Pac's number. Roach isn't slipping, his fighters have just been matched poorly recently.
i agree but it is also abit of bad luck for roach the pac marquez fight was one that could have went either way pac was boxing well till the knock out came i was made up khan got beat because i dont like how aragent he is but if he took advice from roach an stayed on the outside he had a chance of winning that fight too but he likes to try an prove he can take a punch for some reason an i dont no why. chavez was always going to get out classed the only way he had a chance was land that one big punch he nearly did in the 12th tho but apart from that he was never in the fight.
i agree poor matchups but freddy is slower than ever these days. apparently his stable needs some chin work
